Simon Roth, developer of space colony sim Maia sent a tweet out recently showing some sales data, Linux is doing reasonably well.

Here's what he said:

So far this year 4.9% percent of people buying @maia have been Linux users, OSX coming in at 4.4%. Biggest regions are USA (32%), UK (14%) and Germany (11%).

When I asked for more information, he said this is the reverse of the last quarter, when Mac was higher than Linux. Good to see Linux pull ahead slightly there, although it's worth nothing the actual amount of copies sold likely isn't too high, he said last quarter it was only about 700 units.

Even so, Mac and Linux together making up nearly 10% of their overall sales is certainly nothing to sneeze at, especially if you're not making a huge amount of sales, to me that says they're quite important.

Maia is currently available on itch.io and Steam and it's on sale too. It was recently updated as well and it's looking a lot better.

Not bad, and the game looks interesting. I'll probably buy itch.io version.

Looks like a potentially good game, I do hope their able to address some of the thumbed down review concerns before release.

Probably a lot of this comes from the excellent Maia coverage by GOL :)

Bought the game some time ago but never got around to playing, because of an infuriating bug;

Running the game at 1920x1080 ( because running it at my desktops full 4k resolution is too damn slow ) when ever your cursor gest to the bottom or right side you would scroll on to other parts of your desktop. Basically seeing a 1920x1080 cutout of the full desktop with the game still running but only partially in view :(

Maybe they fixed it, but honestly not locking the mouse to the active window is a mistake. With so many good games on linux these days you'd need a very compelling reason to return to a game that suffers from lack of testing of the most basic functionality.

Don't get me wrong, game bugs happen even/especially in AAA titles - but basic input/output needs to be sorted before you reach your consumers.

I don't buy Early Access titles - but I'll let my voice be heard with my wallet once it's out and have proven to be worth it!
STiAT Feb 19, 2018
And I'm planning on buying, once it's out of early access. I am always rather waiting for the finished game than playing early access. Same as I stopped pre-funding projects.

Too many disappointments in the past.

As with Beamboom and STiAT, I'm looking forward to playing this, but don't generally buy EA games. I'll buy when it's "released" and after all the coverage GOL has given it over the years (wow... nearly five! Five years!! And four of those on Linux, it's almost certainly an instant buy!

I backed this game on Kickstarter in 2012, particularly because of the Linux support. Oh boy, back then I was so young and naive...
Of the 3 games I backed that year, only 1 (Wasteland 2) has been actually released.
Glad to see Maia is still developed though! ...the third one is M.I.A.
