Since our last article announcing the DLC, developers have shared a few more details of what will be in this immersion pack. If you guessed that there will be unique mission trees for the various nations of the British Isles, then you were right on the money. Expect unique artwork alongside the actual missions. Nations will also be able to set their own naval doctrines with differing bonuses and you’ll also be able to demand that your opponent steer their trade to you in peace deals. Useful stuff for naval powers and trade-focused nations.
If you’re interested, you should look at the developer diaries to see how these new features are being implemented. There’s also plenty of things that will also be available for free in the upcoming 1.25 patch, including a rework of the naval AI for all nations.
Here are the general features Rule Britannia:
- New British Missions: Exclusive Mission Trees for England, Scotland, Ireland and Great Britain, embedded in the new Europa Universalis IV mission system (coming with the 1.25 update).
- Innovativeness: Earn rewards for being the first nation to unlock new knowledge, including lower power costs.
- Naval Doctrine: Adopt a general strategy for your fleets, giving you bonuses to ship maintenance, trade power or battle performance.
- Anglicanism: A new Protestant faith can appear in England with new bonuses and religious choices.
- Knowledge Sharing: Help your lagging allies or subjects by promoting the spread of institutions in their realms.
- Trade Steering: Force your defeated enemies to have their merchants fill your coffers.
- New Unit and Music Packs: Our artists and composers have new treats for Rule Britannia players, including new army designs for British and Irish nations (including Northumberland and Cornwall) as well as new music to set the mood.
You’ll be able to rule the waves come March 20 and you can also preorder now if you wish though, as always, we advise against preordering any game.
Then again, maybe it's time to go for an achievement run with England, could be interesting and challenging to play historically and give up my land on the continent while colonizing the Americas and Australia and conquering India. Could also be amusing to ally with random backwards nations on the other side of the world and spread institutions to them; maybe pick a Great Lakes nation in Africa and see if I can't turn them into Wakanda. :D Or I could instead try to force France in a personal union…hmmm, so many choices! :D
Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
