Descenders [Steam] is a pretty darn good downhill freeriding game and now it's become a little bit more customizable.

With the latest update, you can now generate your own track in the 'Freeride mode', so now you don't have to go through the set paths in the career mode, although this new mode doesn't reward you any reputation points.

It also gives you the option to load a specific seed, so if you particularly loved a track, you can play it as many times as you like. When playing a track, if you pause it you can see a number in the bottom right above the current music track—that's the seed.

It's a pretty great addition to the game, enabling a much more relaxing mode for when you want to just screw around and practice. One thing I did say in my initial thoughts article was "What I would like to see, is some kind of official course set we can all compete on that isn't random."—not quite what I had in mind, but the ability to replay specific seeds to practice is a really nice step.

There's also some bug fixes and other minor stuff, see the release notes here.

I'm very keen to see this game grow, hopefully they have more trick possibilities lined up as it's quite limited right now so it can end up feeling a little stale after an hour or two. Still, it's a fun game even right now!

I haven't played a bike game since Dave Mirra many years ago. I'll have to give it a try.
