Life is Strange: Before the Storm [Steam], the standalone story adventure set three years before the original is officially heading to Linux! Feral Interactive have today announced that it will arrive sometime this Spring.

Feral Interactive ported the original Life is Strange episodes to Linux, so I’m not surprised they’re teaming up again to bring Before the Storm to Linux. I think they did a very good job of the port before and I certainly enjoyed it a lot. Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Deluxe Edition for Linux will include all three episodes along with the bonus episode, "Farewell".

This standalone prequel isn’t actually made by the originally developer Dontnod, instead the the publisher picked Deck Nine.

“With its tough yet vulnerable protagonist, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a poignant evocation of teenage life,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The atmospheric soundtrack, sharp writing and captivating story combine to create an engrossing and moving game, and we very are excited for macOS and Linux players to experience it.”

Feral said that pricing and system requirements will be confirmed closer to release. You can see the official news post over on the Feral Interactive site. They also now have a mini-site set up for it with a few more details.

This is the third confirmed port from Feral Interactive for Linux this year, so we will have: Total War: THRONES OF BRITANNIARise of the Tomb Raider and now this as well!

Will you be grabbing a copy when it releases for Linux? Exciting times!

Will update the article later with any more information once the official press stuff has been sent out to us.

Will buy! I hope it arrives a little bit in April. Then I can switch back and forth between this game and "NWN:EE", depending on the mood. :D

Great news indeed! Feral has some really good games in the list, I just wish were faster on porting new games to Linux so we didn't have to wait as long!

cool! i can't wait!

Is this game just about a teenage girl going through her period? I could never quite figure out what its all about...

I think the first game was the most emotional game I've ever played.
Especially the "save the town" ending. ** wipes tears **

The first episode works well with Wine since several releases.
I will buy this one too, instantbuy for me.

Really? Last time I tried the characters were invisible which makes it completely unplayable. Glancing at winehq-appdb it seems this issue is still present.

So, this is the "Just a shot away" teaser from the Feral Radar.

Looking back at the previous thread, qptain Nemo successfully guessed this game based on Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter Lyrics.

I'm interested in purchase too, but will hold off until it is counted as a Linux sale. (Also noting that I wouldn't be purchasing it if it wasn't coming to Linux.)

I had some nice help!

It's very nice to know for sure.

I'll be buying it on day one.

Playing this game will feel odd to me, as I played Life is Strange, and thus already know what's going to happen to the characters in the end. I will get it anyway. LiS was the only recent adventure I actually enjoyed, as it didn't make a point of designing brutally illogical puzzles, unlike pretty much 100% of the genre these days. I absolutely HATED the ending though.

But yes, I will buy it. Glad to see that Square Enix rediscovered Linux. :)

You are supposed to have played the original first. This game is written with that in mind and makes a lot of references to the original which you would miss out on if you hadn't played it.

I would never recommend anyone to play this before having played the original.

Another dream comes true thanks to Feral! I'm really looking forward to finally play this game. :)

I will actually buy it now :D

Why , for feeding Windows sales?

I might be being optimistic here, but I don't think he meant "I'm buying it right now". I think (hope) he meant, "great, now I can buy it". You might be right, but lets not jump to conclusions!

Adamfx990: In case you're new here and wondering about the sniping, if you buy the game right now, you'll be counted as a Windows sale, and Feral won't see a penny from you for their efforts. Hold off buying until it's released! There's almost always a sale on release anyway, and if not, Feral will love you if you buy at full price, or there will be a spring sale regardless, if you can wait.

I did indeed know this but it never hurts to reiterate. To clarify, I meant: I will buy it on Linux, once the Linux build drops :D

Count me in for this one as well, I still need to actually finish the original though. :D

Will you be grabbing a copy when it releases for Linux?
Nope.

Steam-only. And steam only gives you one option when comes down to x32/x64 bit.
Valve should finally give us x64 support!

Not an instabuy from me. Sorry Ferel.
Did play all epsiodes of the first and hated it. Only played all parts as some friends said it was brilliant and I had to try. Oh well!
Will be buying Rise of the Tomb Raider though.
linux_gamer Mar 14, 2018
Never played a game like LiS, will buy the new one asap.
