Love stealth games? How about hacking games? Off Grid [Official Site] has them both and the latest teaser has certainly captured my interest.

I haven't actually been following it closely, something I aim to fix as it seems like a game I would enjoy. The developer has been testing Linux early-on in the development of it too, with them sharing a shot of it running on Linux back in 2016. They've recently put up a new gameplay teaser and they re-confirmed to me that Linux will indeed be a same-day release—heck, their Tweet even has a "#linuxgames" tag in it.

Anyway, less rambling more showing:

Here's what the game will feature:

  • Stealth and hacking gameplay based on use of data and environments rather than weapons and combat
  • Hack into lifelike simulated networks and data with realistic hacking techniques and tools including SSH, sidejacking, and social engineering of the AI
  • Contemporary storyline and missions related to real-world events surrounding data privacy and mass surveillance
  • Fully moddable content encouraging players to create new and interesting levels, whether complete fantasy or mimicking hacking in the real world around them
  • Outstanding audio and original soundtrack from Jonas Jensen and Lyndon Holland, the BAFTA-winning composer from the game Virginia

You can follow it on Steam. It's due out in "Early 2019".

Quoting: CyrilHi there!

Do you know if the game could get a GOG release (or any kind of DRM-Free release) in the future?

Sorry to ask that guys but it might be important. Thanks!
We'll definitely do DRM-free, although what stores will be a question we'll have to answer closer to release. As far as we're concerned, both GOG and Humble Store are something we'd like to do. Not massive supporters of DRM here :D

Yep, like Pontus said, there will def be a DRM free version.

To elaborate on why we can't confirm it being on GOG yet: they actually have a quite specific selection process and like to see the games close to finished before deciding if they want it on the platform. We'll definitely be looking to get on there though. Humble *should* be more straight forward :)

Quoting: NeverthelessDoes it support Kali Linux?

I can test that in a VM pretty easily to say if it throws errors or not, but I have no idea how much effort Kali devs put into supporting graphics cards!

Will let you know later down the line :P

But don't put too much efforts into it! :D

... as it was a joke. :)

Some young kewl haxors having watched a certain TV series want to run Steam on Kali - and don't have the abilities to make it work.

Of course it was! Gaming on Kali is like Rallye racing with farming machines. :)

Well there is an entire sport dedicated to that!

Lol yeah I figured it was a joke, but that it would be a funny gimmick to see if it ran, if nothing else to be able to say that it does! :P

You could integrate the game into a Kali live CD as a physical special edition. ;-)
