I honestly thought the developer had forgotten about this, but apparently not. Pirate action RPG Tempest [Steam] has a fresh Linux beta.

Currently though, they've messed it up a bit as it seems you can't actually download it. I've sent them a message through multiple channels about fixing it. Hopefully they will do so soon! You can find the new announcement on Steam here.

It does look quite good, so hopefully we will be able to give it some impressions once it's fully working and out of beta. There's simply not enough good naval combat games on Linux, so it might fill a nice gap.

It has single-player and multi-player support, with fully real-time gameplay in a big open world. You're not just taking on other ships, there's also all sorts of sea-creatures to take down too.

Thanks for the tip, robvv!

Well this is good news. I bought the game in a bundle to take advantage of the Linux build only for it to go missing.

I have tried the "tempestlinux" beta code, and it still isn't letting me download the install, so maybe developers and official betatesters only for now :(

Still, fingers crossed for more!

They've suggest emailing them if you're having issues: [email protected]

It does seem like the opt-in beta depot has access, so I'm not sure what's up now if you can't download it.

I am just waiting for the full Linux release with this, because I love naval pirate games!

Looks interesting, thought it looks like you don't really have crew, or can move around like crew. I think that is one of the things that made Sea of Thieves so enticing and popular but that game had a content depth issue.

Oh, steam just downloaded the game and now we're able to play it :D

I opened up a support request with Steam Support last night and, as lod says, the game is now available for download :-)

Yes, I didn't try on my regular PC, but I got in on another Linux PC. What I needed to do (and maybe that has changed now) - Go to regular "Install Game" option. Click on that. It had an error. Then go into Properties, and change to the Beta after enter the code "tempestlinux" in the box. After that, the Beta installed automatically overwriting the previous "Install Game" (failed) attempt. I was able to run the game.

Now I need to get back to my main PC and try again.

EDIT: Okay, so now I have got it downloaded and working on my main PC. Note that I did the same process again. I start off by Install Game. Then try to run and the run fails. Then right-click on Properties for the game in Steam client, enter the Beta Code, select the Beta, and it overwrites the previously failing-to-run game.
