Croteam is finally starting to give out some basic details on their next game, now called Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass.

Details are obviously light, but we finally have the official name along with this teaser:

When I said basic details, I really did mean it. This is literally all they've shown.

Given their history with Linux support, I've no doubt it will be on Linux and it will likely be using their newer Fusion engine with Vulkan support. It does list "SteamOS + Linux" in the system requirements section, but it's obviously not filled out yet. Checking SteamDB quickly, it does show that Linux is in the "oslist" which was added recently—a reasonably good sign.

There's also now a Steam page ready for it.

If I get to ride my bike down the street and shoot some serious
monsters, AT THE SAME TIME, that would be seriously awesome!

I never played a serious sam game. This looks very silly, and I kinda want to play now...

Quoting: BeamboomI'm such a dull person. When I watched the video, I thought, "how can that guy scream "waaaaaaa!" with no head?".

Much like when skeletons are talking and they have no lungs in their chest, let alone vocal cords. Details like that really annoys me.

I really am no fun.
I get the screaming thing. Although my understanding is that "Serious Sam" in general could reasonably be renamed "Fairly Comedic Sam" (or perhaps "Poe's Law Parody Sam" ), so realism may not be what they're trying for here.
But when it comes to skeletons . . . they're magic. If you're going to buy that they walk around and try to kill you with no muscles, tendons et cetera to drive their movements, talking seems like a comparatively trivial bit of gramarye to stick at. Either they're proper "physics" skeletons, meaning they lie there falling apart and do nothing, or they're magic skeletons, in which case surely the sky's the limit.

If you had played the game and read their description, you'd know they have a boom box embedded in their necks producing the aaaaaaah sounds. Mental wanted humans to hide and cower in fear when they heard that sound. He/it/she found that it was really boring to have human soldiers blow up without even knowing what happened to them with the stealthy v1.0 bomb soldiers.

I still think there's a difference! I accept that magic is what holds the bones together and moves'em. But why even MOVE the damn jaws when you have *nothing* behind those bones? Just go telepathic or make the skull vibrate to generate those sound waves or whatever. It makes no sense even in the context of the worlds. Of course they can't talk the regular way, by moving their jaws!

Must be added though, that living skeletons are usually quite quiet, except from the rattling of their bones.

But those who are not... Get outta here. :)

Now that the Serious Sam Complete Pack is seriously reduced (87% off) on Steam, I'm thinking to buy it again for my second Steam account.

Go Croteam!!! :)

Why have several Steam accounts?

I've got various reasons, but the primary reasons are:

- Building up Trading Card Sets
- Selling Trading Cards for Steam Credit
- Having more than one account for friends to play multiplayer games at my home
- So that I don't have to throw away games when I get additional copies via bundles
- When I have stupidly bought the same game a second time
- I might give the extra account away to friends/family in the future, when full of games

and

- Showing support for Linux Devs by buying a second copy of their game

Quoting: GuestReally, when skeletons have no lungs but are talking annoys you, but the fact that they're skeletons but are alive doesn't?

Yup! :-)
I've explained why in a reply further up on this page.

And another proprietary game on a proprietary platform. Always a riddle having this distributed on a free operating-system!
