Deep breaths commander, there's a new UFO sighting on the Feral Interactive port radar indicating a new Linux port is on the way.
Here's the new teaser:
Begin your wild guessing game. I literally don't have a clue, but then I never manage to guess them correctly. Although, honestly I try not to dig too far as when I do I end up thinking about all sorts of wild titles.
We've still got Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia yet to come from Feral, so another showing up is quite exciting news. They've ported so many top quality games to Linux now, it's really quite incredible and it's pleasing to see this continue!
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:

Am I missing something? That's just Paradise Lost, we knew that already.
I still don't see the connection from Paradise Lost to Dark Souls.
Don't know if that could be the link...
https://www.reddit.com/r/bloodborne/comments/3zhqsy/connections_between_bloodborne_and_paradise_lost/
Bloodborne is a "spiritual brother" to Dark Souls, from what I hear. In fact it seems it's in the same universe, but I never played. It's just comments I heard from players I know.
Edit: Found many other sources that makes the connection between Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Paradise Lost. "Dark Souls is a metaphor of life. Like a video game version of Paradise Lost." Along those lines...
I thought Bloodborne was exclusive to the Playstation.
Has this changed ?
It's an exclusive -- also the linked reddit post hardly documents a tangible connection. It's one person's association of a single phrase from Milton, with a theme in Bloodborne. It's sort of like finding a reference to 'ears', and 'hearing' in a poem, and concluding that the writers of Star Trek TNG must have had that poem as an inspiration in creating the Ferengi.

So nothing to see. I was hoping someone would build on top of that with other hints but it feels more like a dead end.

Given that Doom already runs on Vulkan and id Software are no strangers to Linux I think they could do the port themselves.
2 Likes, Who?
I know Bethesda isn't the biggest fan of Linux, but maybe Wolfenstein 2? It would make a little more sense than Doom 2016 because it's newer.

Plz doom. Doom plz or shadow of war. Cant say I have anything backing my theory. Its just a wish ^_^.

So?... whatever it is it’ll use metal on macOS. It’s coming from feral.

The image would fit DOOM, and since Doom already supports Vulcan, it's not a huge stretch to imagine a Linux port. Until you remember who's the publisher, that is...

Maybe Killing Floor 2, they were basically asking for help to port it to Linux, it also has a game mode called Poundemonium.

Paradise Lost > Eden > Planet Eden : Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 ;-)
Well going down that route: there are some heaven/hell themes in
Bayonetta and NieR:Automata as well which would both be great.
But statistics point towards TW:Warhammer 2 however that may explain the hints ...

Others options (from the wikipedia page on devil in pop culture):
- a shin megami tensei/ persona game. Lucifer is a big figure in the megaten franchise.
- Guitar Hero III (but who plays Guitar hero sitting ?!?)
- Cuphead
- Tekken 2

I've been thinking about and looking into the Feral Radar clues that are given. I know that others have already mentioned these findings, but I'm just using them here in my overall pitch. Noting that I started a number of hours ago, then had a short sleep, and have only just returned to it. Also noting that I was intending to spend my evening doing other things than wrack my brains over clues like this!
1. The quote "Proud Throne of Lucifer"
- comes from John Milton's Poem "Paradise Lost".
- The Quote: "about the walls of Pandemonium, city and proud seat of Lucifer".
2. The Hellish painting
- Named Pandemonium, and painted by John Martin in 1841.
- It was one of many paintings based on Milton's Paradise Lost.
- Painter William Blake created many of the other Paradise Lost paintings.
Some interesting ancillary information:
The "Lucifer" word literally means "Light Bearer" from the Latin. Also, associated with "Morning Star" and "the planet Venus".
Lucifer is one of the many names of Satan.
Lucifer was the Brightest Angel in Heaven, before his Fall from Grace (becoming Satan).
Lots of other material about Lucifer is here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer
Pandemonium is the Capital of Hell in John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost, or rather Satan's Throne or Satan's seat.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pand%C3%A6monium_(Paradise_Lost)
Popular culture influenced by Paradise Lost:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradise_Lost_in_popular_culture
(There are a few games mentioned here, e.g. Darksiders and Deus Ex)
The clues suggest "Satan's Throne/Satan's Seat" to me, i.e. The prime location where Satan's influence was centred on Earth.
If one searches for "Satan's Throne", it leads to the ancient city Pergamon where the Pergamon Altar (Satan's Throne) was sited.
Pergamon was a place of sin, idolatry and debauchery, worshipping all manner of gods (paganism), Greek ones, Roman ones, etc.
The Pergamon Altar itself was a massive Altar, decorated with a frieze of Olympian (Greek) Gods in an epic war with a race of giants. In modern times, Pergamon is a city in Turkey, and the Pergamon Altar was excavated and moved to Museum Island in Berlin.

Moving on to games now. Well the first thing to say is that the clues are not really pushing me to choose a specific title.
The one title which seems to fit closest with the clues - It is very very unlikely to come to Linux:
God of War (2018 video game)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_War_(2018_video_game)
- Mixes Greek mythology (Olympian Gods) with Norse mythology (trolls, goblins, giants)
- Released by Sony, and on PS4 only... so.... hardly a perfect candidate for the Feral Radar guess.
Another title which (other people have mentioned) and slightly fits in with the clues:
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
- Noting that the main (god-like) Player Character fights Orcs (and other Giant-like creatures) in (somewhat) epic battles.
- This is a lot more likely than God of War, owing to the fact that "Shadow of Mordor" was ported to Linux before, by Feral.
Games with Hell and Demons - More potential titles:
- Shadow Warrior 2 (you fight demons and there are some Hellish places in this, and it is supposed to come to Linux eventually)
- Darksiders franchise
- Bayonetta
- DOOM (2016)
- Agony
- Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide
- Dark Souls franchise
- Final Fantasy XV (Reasons: Lucis kingdom, Lucian throne, getting plunged into eternal darkness, Niflheim = Hell in Norse myth, Square Enix)
- Elder Scrolls franchise (slightly joking, here, but mainly implying the very old game Oblivion)
- Tokyo Babel (Reason: Demons and angels in game, Babel is Earth-based equivalent city to Hell's Pandemonium)
Likely titles but where are the clues?:
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Well, for starters a lot of the game is expected to be based in Jungles in Mexico.)
- NieR: Automata (A decent Square Enix title, and lots of Feral ports of their games)
- Vampyr (Other Dontnod title has been ported by Feral before)
Anyone got further suggestions based on what I've shared? Normally, I'd work from both sides of the problem: Work out ideas from the clues. Work out possible game titles. And then try to match them up.
Just spotted "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" just mentioned before I pasted this. Yes, another Hell and Demons possible.

So obviously the key word here is "Pandemonium", since it's both the title of the painting and the "proud seat of Lucifer", as given in the clue. But what game would fit to that word?
Here is the disambiguation page of the word in Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandemonium
The first thing I saw is that there is a rollercoaster called Pandemonium. I'm not following simulation games so did feral port some kind of rollercoaster tycoon games already and there is a new one maybe?
Also the palace of Lucifer, which is on the painting, was built by Mulciber, which is also a weapon name in Borderlands. However I think it is unlikely that they port Borderlands 1, since it's really quite old :D

this is actually pretty good guess. I don't know much about this game, but given its popularity and huge thread asking for Linux support + its an UE4 game and has very positive reviews, it should fit right in.

God of War 3, Linux is no threat to Sony, so they let Feral do a port...

I just wish there was Total War: Warhammer 2 on Linux. Still don't quite understand how the first game is on Linux, the new TW:Britannia is, but TW:W 2 still isn't.
Puzzling.
