Deep breaths commander, there's a new UFO sighting on the Feral Interactive port radar indicating a new Linux port is on the way.

Here's the new teaser:

Begin your wild guessing game. I literally don't have a clue, but then I never manage to guess them correctly. Although, honestly I try not to dig too far as when I do I end up thinking about all sorts of wild titles.

We've still got Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia yet to come from Feral, so another showing up is quite exciting news. They've ported so many top quality games to Linux now, it's really quite incredible and it's pleasing to see this continue!

Quoting: DisharmonicMy guess would be this https://store.steampowered.com/app/414340/Hellblade_Senuas_Sacrifice/

this is actually pretty good guess. I don't know much about this game, but given its popularity and huge thread asking for Linux support + its an UE4 game and has very positive reviews, it should fit right in.

Nah wont be this game, as a general rule if I want to play it on linux there is no chance in hell of a port xD

I am guessing Hellblade sacrifice given that it was self published by platnium has done really well and maybe they were talking into testing the waters with their surprise hit

Its a hack and slash or as Tb would of called it a spectical fighter with a dark story and dark visuals

Quoting: BeamboomIt's almost guaranteed not to be Agony. Why? Cause it is SLAYED by the reviews. Feral has, as far as I can recall, never ported a game with really bad reviews apart from the first F1 title (F1 2015).
What if they started working on this port long ago and couldn't have known the game is going to be bad?

Quoting: GuestDOOM (2016) - Great to have on Linux but it's from Bethesda. As others have pointed out, Bethesda is very capable of doing the port themselves but Zenimax (holding company) is just so anti-Linux.

If I'd be a Linux head having my child Doom run on Linux, but my bosses not agreeing to actually publish it, I might go to them and tell them about this porting company to make it a no risk port...
But it seems the game is not as close to the hell/pandemonium topic as I thought.

Agony would be the first Feral port I have never ever heard of before the port.

Allow me to suggest a theory about why some big publishers are seemingly anti-Linux.

Ahem. :)

*cracks knuckles*

There is a weird thing in investment where you can get more money invested in your company by dropping the right buzzwords. "Blockchain" *kaching* ... "machine learning" *kaching* ... "Augmented reality" *kaching*.

These investors know bugger-all about tech, but they love money and will happily take risks on "the next big thing".

Now back to game publishers that are listed on the stock market. I suspect their reasoning for being opposed to Linux generally is that they are afraid their stock price would fall if they make what is perceived to be bad business decisions. The word "Linux" was so toxic once upon a time that even Ubuntu did not use the word anywhere on their web site for a while. (See also: Android)

Things are different now, but these are people with loads of money that are generally out of touch.

I think the trick is for "Linux" to become a positive buzzword in business. In some small way I think Microsoft might actually be helping with this as they expand their Linux server business. Unfortunately, this is tech-facing, not consumer-facing.

Anyhoo - big-money buzzwords, investors, stock prices.

I wouldn't mind if it were Dark Souls Remastered. There are lava levels there (the Demon Ruins someone else mentioned a few pages back followed by Lost Izalith) very similar to what the image shows. Plus, it's an awesome game which has just recently had a release on Windows and consoles. Fits right in.

I can't tell you why, but I have that impression as well. I guess it comes from the DYI and "it doesn't have to look good because it's free" mentality that was prevalent in the community some years back. It's changed a lot now, but the things people have etched in their brains are not easy to root out.

guys.. they just mean they will cause a PANDEMONIUM ..by releasing multiple Linux titles at the same time! ..No?..wasn't that the hint?

It seems it's a tough one this time...!

What we can expect:

A major title or close to triple A.

Will be released on a thursday mid-day or evening.

Port will surely be awesome.

Could be Dark Soul 3 or Shadow of Tomb Raider, but also total war warhammer 2. I would be pleasently surprised if it was something different from Creative Assembly or Square Enix. (unless we have nier automata :p)

I really hope it is Dark Souls Remastered :)

Although it does fit in quite well with the clues, Bandai Namco have practically zero Linux presence in their game catalogue (The only one I am aware of is Chroma Squad).

Meanwhile, irritating that if this turns out to be true (I don't think it will) that I own the original Windows release, but not the Remaster.

PAC-MAN 256 and DeadCore has Linux versions too. Anyway, everything happens for the first time someday. I remember how surprised I was when a Square Enix game got ported a Linux (Tomb Raider, two years ago).

Plus there's pandemonium in her mind at most times it seems, so it would be a clever double match for the hint. Seems like a plausible guess to me considering the popularity and calibre of the game relative to what Feral usually ports, the fact it's still recent and the relevance of the clues. Definitely something I'd put on my wishlist at any rate.
