Do you love strategy games? You might like to take a look at Liberation Circuit [GitHub], a free software (GPL) RTS that includes optional programming elements.
It's available on itch.io, but sadly the Linux version does require compiling. It's easy enough to do though, as the developer included a handy script to do it all for you! I've tested it on Ubuntu 18.04 and it worked without issues, it even displayed perfectly with my dual-monitor setup, something much larger developer teams still have issues with.
Here's how the developer put it in simple terms:
Liberation Circuit is a real-time strategy game with optional programming bits (you can design your own units and either write their AI in a simple programming language or let the autocoder do it for you).

It's a surprisingly impressive game, complete with music and sound effects. As a huge fan of strategy games, I really do see something in this one, hopefully it continues to be developed. Since it's free software, anyone can jump in and help.
Thanks for the tip, turkuaz!
Quoting: razing32Do you just fight ? Or is there some resource-gathering/base-building involved also ?You do need to gather resources to build yes.
I looked in the source code yesterday and found that the save-function
wasn't implemented yet.
