Black Riddles Studio has finally shown Crazy Justice [Official Site] on Ubuntu, although it's only a small teaser of their third-person shooter it has me excited.
Crazy Justice is the third-person shooter developed by two brothers, which was crowdfunded on Fig where they managed to get $51K in funding. Since the campaign finished, they've hit just shy of $70K thanks to people pre-ordering it.
They later announced a Battle Royale mode, which has me excited because Linux doesn't really have one currently. You could argue we have stuff with last man standing modes, sure, but they're quite different. Given how popular the BR genre is, it will be sweet to have it on Linux. As a reminder, the Early Access release should hopefully be available before the end of June. Looks like I might be getting an early birthday present this year…
They did promise they were testing it on Linux as they developed it and it appears so, here's the tweet they sent out:
#CrazyJustice #Linux gameplay footage revealed! 😱 It means that, Linux players will be able to experience the #CrossPlay feature at 60FPS on 4K screens, even in #Steam Early Access! 😍 #Ubuntu #Ubuntu1804 #ue4 #gamer #gaming #gamedev #indiedev #gamingonlinux #indiegamedev pic.twitter.com/ELD1VVmcgc

The developer sent us over a higher quality version of the video than what Twitter shows, which we're hosting on our YouTube channel:
Direct Link
They also recently shared another teaser on Twitter, which shows how a Battle Royale game will start. They did say it's still in-progress, so animations aren't final of course.
One of the bigger features of the game, will be cross-platform multiplayer. Seeing this feature more often is pleasing!
You all might have to drag me away from this when it releases for Linux.
From the Teaser it almost exactly looks like Fortnite.
Im not expecting it to take over Fortnite or PUBG, but I don't think a lot of people will play it
given that they want to sell it for 25$ (~20€).
Quoting: LeflI can't really see how this is going to be somewhat successfull. The same can be said for any game that's similar to any other. I highly doubt they're going in expecting the level of success of Fortnite.

Do remember we're a Linux site, we don't have anything like Fortnite and it probably never will come to Linux. For us, Crazy Justice is a safe bet.

Look at his profile. He is using Windows too and his comparisons will be Windows based , not Linux.

One of these days a Linux compatible game will rise to the status of fadware. It is all a matter of chance.

Quoting: JolltI love how they recorded the monitor, more people should do that to get a feel of the game running :DI bet they thought setting that up would be quicker than learning how to record gameplay on Linux. :)
Or maybe they wanted to avoid the overhead to make it perform as well as possible for the video...
Admittedly, in the past was death on Artifact from valve now looking forward to it, this game looks fun to, if nothing else I can play the other game modes with fewer people cross platform multi.
Quoting: mortigarWell id say a lot of people with "Switchs" will pick it up. also it doesn't just have BR so your not just paying $25 for BR only.Yeah, I'm focusing a lot on the Battle Royale mode as that's what they've been showing off recently and what I'm most excited about.

It will have a single-player and co-op stuff outside of that.
Quoting: EMO GANGSTER... now if they could just make an MMO I can stand they all look terrible(that have Linux support)...Try Tale of Toast
I am getting really bored with HoN and while tomb raider is keeping me entertained, I'm after some PvP and BR games look fun just lacking on linux
Quoting: Cestusi would have played it if free but 25$, there is just no way!I don't know man. For me, if the game is good, I'll pay standard pricing to help support the dev that took the time to make a game for our platform. Simple as that.

The problem of the value will largely be based on the player base. A game with 100 player BR will need thousands of players online at any given time to make that work. This may sound easy, but it's not. Just check the the player numbers of Ballistic Overkill.

I agree about with your perspective about the Battle Royale mod. It may not work as expected if the game doesn't get enough market share. But as CJ has a single player campaign it may justifies the price even if it doesn't get enough people for the multiplayer. I mean, if it just were a copycat of Battle Royale or PUBG would make anyone to keep away from it with such price, but the existance of a solo campaign changes the equation (at least for me).
I will keep an eye on this game, graphically speaking looks really nice.

Quoting: x_wingIndeed that's another big part of the pull for CJ, the additional modes.Quoting: EhvisThe problem of the value will largely be based on the player base. Not only that, but cross-platform play where it will be the only Battle Royale game on the Nintendo Switch. That alone could give it a huge following. The cross-plat play also works with Xbox One.
As for the Battle Royale mode, there's actually two variants of it. One with building and skills and one without. Apparrently the map will have a car you can find and drive too, sounds amusing.

As I've got no skills, I'd prefer the later one. ;)
