Like your war games? The Humble War Gamez Bundle might tickle your fancy with a couple of decent Linux games included.

Not exactly amazing compared to previous Humble Indie Bundles (I really would love to see them more often), but for those of you short on cash and looking for something new, this bundle still has three good Linux games.

For pay what you want, you will be able to get

  • Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition
  • Insurgency.

If you decide to pay more than the average, you can also grab:

  • Day of Infamy Deluxe Edition

There's other games, but not available on Linux. Even so, if you're into shooters, those are some good choices.

I recently did some Day of Infamy during one of my last livestreams and forgot how fun it was, the AI sure can be aggressive in the co-op mode. Pretty intense having an enemy flame trooper come running at you that's for sure.

I'n tempted to grab it myself, since I don't personally own Mercenary Kings. Grab your copy here.

Damn and I just recently bought Day of Infamy too, great game! Cracking Deal! Use to love some Day of Defeat back in the day and it very much feels like an updated version of that.

I had an issue with DOI where it doesn't show as "In-Game"... It still collects achievements and game hours and what not, it's just on my friends list it appears as "Online" and not "In-Game"

I managed to find a manual fix to that issue here

https://steamcommunity.com/app/447820/discussions/0/133262487501721092/

"open a terminal and cd into your DOI install folder

sudo chmod 644 crash_handler"

This fixed it for me
That same fix works for Insurgency too, the developer has been made aware of it by me. Hopefully they will sort it sometime, when they're not busy working on the newer Insurgency game (they're not a big studio).

What's humble even doing?

I heard they actually do call World War II a war, which would make a game about it... you guess it.

If you do get the bundle, don't forget that you can now choose how much you can give to each developer independently by clicking the arrows on the line in front of the sliders.

You can therefore only support the linux devs... However, if you plan on playing the other games through WINE, I would leave them a token amount anyway. (I haven't used WINE in years except for 1 title, but that is your choice.)

How do you even do that? I've never seen those sliders.

Oh right, there's 1 wargame in there.

Also, a game about war isn't a wargame, otherwise Valiant Hearts and Skyrim would we wargames as well.

That's why it's "War Gamez" and not "Wargames". One being a game genre, the other one just "gamez" about war :)

"Choose where your money goes" is just below where you select how much to pay. Hit the arrow and it will expand to the sliders. I'm leaving it default to give some to the FSF & GOL anyway.

Great price for Day of Infamy Deluxe Edition alone but gives you Insurgency as well...

And you can support the FSF with it. But it looks like for a Linux site it is not important. I wonder how many people change the default charity?
The FSF is the default charity for our partner links ;)

Damn!

I hurried and bought it on Windows by mistake (I'm at work, I don't have Linux here)
I got excited about Day of Infamy, which is the only one I want from there.

Will it still count as a Linux purchase if I activate the keys on Linux?

You're fine when you activate and start it on Linux, this overrides the selling system. I've set my work hrowser's user agent to Linux for the Steam page just to make sure.

All the games available are pretty limp imo. I love FPSs but Day of Infamy was a let down and Insurgency has too many technical issues to be properly enjoyable. I haven't played Merc Kings though I doubt its good enough to get the whole bundle for.

Mercenary Kings for only a buck? Insta Buy :D

I change it every time to be sure where my money goes but I'm not everyone. ^_^

Well, I'm surprised by this rather narrow definition. I'd call every game of the collection "Kriegsspiel" (literally "war game" ). Valiant Hearts would be an anti war game in my book, and Skyrim neither, as the war is not central to the game.

Does this account for all games? I bought Trailblazers from GOG, first downloaded and played on linux but been dual-booting to play the actual thing because linux build has a game-breaking bug atm

Not sure if GOG is the same process as steam? Would feel bad as hell if they count that as a windows purchase when I bought it with the intention of playing it on linux

Sorry, what I wrote is valid for Steam, I don't know how other stores handle it.
