The latest System Shock update from Nightdive paints a pretty promising picture after the game was delayed.

In the update, Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios talks about how various parts of the game are coming together, including welcoming a new member to the team. They've been working on the puzzles, ensuring their random generation matches up to your choice of difficulty. Work on the user interface sounds like it's coming along, as they say you can now pick up and actually move items around.

The biggest news, is that they're aiming to have the game playable from start to finish by September. That doesn't mean they will be close to being finished, as they say this is without weapons and enemies. They also say right now, that they have 55% of the game "blocked out". The definition of blocked out seems to vary from developer to developer, but the overall theme seems to be levels that have some basic design to them and notes for designers before they've put all aspects in like proper textures, objects and so on.

They also shared some new screenshots:

They regularly livestream their development on Twitch, so give them a follow if you're interested.

The comments section on their kickstarter page is still a dumpster fire. I obviously understand backers' frustration, but for some people, excoriating the devs appears to have become an end in itself. Maybe they should calm down a little -- NDS is acknowledging the fact that they've f*cked up, and they seem to be making a genuine effort to make everything right.

Sounds like people who have backed projects before are scared and sensative.

Growing the dumpster fire will either add contraversey and infamy or actually cause the bad end that people are trying to avoid & upset about.

Sounds like they are cascade trigger alarmed for little reason.

Anger does not bring about creative passionate clear vision.
