The latest bi-weekly Wine development release is out with 3.8 and it brings a few notable features and bug fixes. I'm always in awe at the speed of Wine development, giving the mammoth task it really is.
Here's their feature highlights:
- Infrastructure for writing kernel driver tests.
- Support for showing file properties in the Shell browser.
- MP3 decoder as a DirectX Media Object.
- More support for the Task Scheduler.
- Support for COM aggregation in UrlMon.
In terms of bug fixes, they noted a total of 32 that have been fixed. These include fixing an issue in League Of Legends with OpenWRT based routers, fixes for multiple MSI-based installers, more fixes for other types of installers, Steam Big Picture issues and so on.

In this wine version have mp3 decoder: potentially could affect some titles with mp3 music case oblivion, fallout 3 and others?
Im alive still works
Last test with wine 2.8 more or less 1 year before

And now with wine 3.8

At simple seek performance remains similar but fps appears more stable
However shadow problems still remain, especially notorious in mike apartament or mall center

What is the issue with Oblivion/Fallout 3? The last time I played them, they ran almost perfect, only thing I had to do is set "winegstreamer" to disabled in wineconfig as it was crashing the game.

I test oblivion and in before test music folder will be renamed but now runs ok without rename folder and dont need disable winegstreamer in test
In my case build wine for this is needed: libmpg123-dev

Wish F4se and skyrim-64se (script extenders) would work. Been having some issues getting them working under DXVK, seems like no fix coming any time soon. Pretty sure the 32bit variants work as I remember using the skyrim 32bit one fine.

So, does anyone know what percentage of Win32 games actually runs in Wine at at least a silver rating? That would be a handy measuring stick for progress, I think.

Win32 is basically D3D9, percentage is impossible to say, if your talking about the BIG and popular titles then I would say it must be well over 50%

when it comes to dx9 games though if it doesnt run now, it never will they have long since moved on. Still a list of dx9 games that are either platium or gold.

And projects like VK9 might prove you wrong as well.
