Feral Interactive aren't just hard at work porting more awesome games to Linux and showing off new teasers, they're also patching up Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The latest update, released just today makes multiple improvements to the game:
- Linux - Improved resource management on Nvidia devices when using driver version 396.18. The game should no longer crash when running at reasonable graphics settings for your hardware (2GB GPU - 1080p with Medium Texture Quality, 4GB GPU - 1080p with High Texture Quality)
- macOS & Linux - Volume sliders now also apply to cutscene audio
- macOS & Linux - Fixes a number of minor issues
Even before these fixes, the Linux port was fantastic. See my previous report on it here.
Don't own it yet? You can grab it from Humble Store and Steam.

Does the game still freeze if an application in the background steals focus like Telegram etc.? Or has that been fixed?

What would be great is a frame limiter. I’m waiting for that to play the game in good conditions. Vsync causes big slowdowns when the game runs below 60 FPS, and no vsync causes microstuttering above 60 FPS.
This libstrangle thingy doesn't help?

With this patch now the game works better on Ubuntu 16.04.4, Core i7 4790K (no overclock); 8GB DDR3; GTX 960 2GB; 390.48 Drivers.
