Underworld Ascendant [Official Site], the action RPG that's due out this year with Linux support has a fresh trailer showing off some new gameplay.

It sure took them a while to confirm their plans for Linux support, which I'm thankful they have done so now. In addition to that, they recently spoke to me on Twitter as well to reiterate that Linux will be supported, although likely not a same-day release.

Anyway…feast your eyes on the latest shiny trailer:

About the game:

From the creative minds behind the acclaimed Ultima Underworld® series, in Underworld Ascendant®, Paul Neurath and Warren Spector's OtherSide Entertainment is innovating upon the series’ signature player-authored gameplay in bold new ways and bringing the ‘immersive sim’ genre forward in a breathtaking fantasy realm, rife with danger and full of intrigue.

Return to The Stygian Abyss in Underworld Ascendant®, the action RPG designed to maximize player choice. Journey through the unfamiliar. Unlock your creative potential. Utilize your environment to stack the odds in your favor. Devise the ideal plan to overcome the challenges you face or dive in and think on your feet.

With the actual release for Windows coming up in September, I sure hope they are taking feedback on from the likes of PC Gamer who got their hands on an early build and it sounded…rough. Still, I often love games other reviews dislike for various reasons, so I will give it my usual look when it eventually releases for Linux.

Quoting: PatolaI would surely like a service where I could track and be recalled of all these games which are not out yet and do not have a steam/gog/itch/whatever page where I could just wishlist it. This one seems amazing, and also looked to me a bit like The Dark Mod.
You can do that at Giantbomb.com. You can make custom lists. For example, long ago, I created a list I called "Watching" where I added games I was keen about but not yet "wish list" status. That's also where I keep track of games I am not finished with.

Huge fan of the original series. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one.

I'm predicting it'll be a huge flop. Nothing in their previews has looked good. Sadly.

Thanks, excellent tip. I am already following Underworld Ascendant, Black Geyser, Phoenix Point and Cosmic Star Heroine there by now. :-) Metanoia and Remnant are not there yet though.

I'd like to see something more integrated with GoL, where when I read a game article, I could click on a wishlist/remindme type of button that I can check back on later. I don't want to have to manually go do it on another site. Why wouldn't I just use a notepad app on my pc or phone if that was the case?

Ars Technica is not exactly overly excited:

Let's hope they are wrong in that this game needs at least one more year of polish, or I'm afraid @drmoth will be right in his comment...

This one is on Steam, I have it on wishlist since february. But I know what you mean, sometimes some games happen to fall through the cracks.
