The rather good stealth-action game Aragami just got an expansion with Aragami: Nightfall and it sounds pretty good.

I've seen a few people mention that there's not a lot of stealth games on Linux, so if you haven't checked out Aragami before it would be worth taking a look.

Here's what the new DLC features:

  • Play as Hyo or Shinobu in Aragami: Nightfall and uncover the fate of the last Shadow Assassins.
  • Try 3 new Shadow Techniques to help you fulfill your mission.
  • Play 4 new story chapters through winter valleys and decayed cities to stop a grim ritual.
  • Play the Aragami: Nightfall story campaign with a friend in cross-platform online multiplayer.

Probably worth mentioning that the developer, Lince Works, said in an interview with Back2Gaming that they felt the Linux version "has not been profitable"—maybe we can help change that.

You can find Aragami on Humble Store and the Aragami: Nightfall DLC too, otherwise head to Steam. The main game is on GOG too, but no DLC yet.

This is on my wishlist. I have too many unplayed games at the moment, so I haven't yet bought it. I am sorry to hear that they feel the Linux version didn't sell to their expectations.

I do wonder what the "long tail" of sales looks like, though. Over 5 or 10 years, will it continue to bring in money for less effort? It would be interesting to hear from any indie developer about their experience with this.

I bought this last night on Steam, of course making sure to do it from Linux. I have already play through Aragami, both in co-op and solo collecting all the achievements. I thought both the gameplay and the story were excellent. I hope to start playing this new DLC this weekend.

This was one game I really wanted to love but skipped it. The gameplay and mechanics look cheap, the enemies are all deaf, blind or tunnel visioned. From all the videos I saw it seems there's no climbing either, instead you have that overpowered shadowstep which makes the game far too easy, for example where in other games you have to walk, in this you can simply shadowstep and poof right behind the enemy.

Combat is another thing I didn't like, it looks too slow and not very fluid. It feels sluggish when I compare it with other stealth games I played.

What are the other games in which you refer? I would be interested in trying them out.

The first few levels are on the easier side, to teach you the mechanics. It does get difficult later on, as you have less shadow areas and more enemies. You also have 3 different goals. Eliminate all enemies, eliminate no enemies and never be detected. Complete these 3 goals make it much more challenging as well.

The game isn't perfect, but I found it was fun to play and unique enough from other games to be worth it.

Thanks.
