The Linux version of this pretty “RogueVania” has now been pushed out of beta and made available to everyone. A few other things have been added to the game in the accompanying patch.

I picked up Dead Cells in the current Steam sale and have already sunk in an hour or two. It’s been a fun ride thus far and it pleases me to see that the Linux version is out of beta and officially advertised. The game is still in Early Access, with a projected release date of August but is already a very engaging and polished experience.
An issue with the Steam overlay not working (and therefore the Steam Controller) still persists in the current build. That said, my generic gamepads have worked without issue and I’ve noticed no bugs or stability issues in my sessions.
Along with the release of the OSX and Linux versions, Dead Cells has also gotten initial mod support. It’s currently very limited, with only cosmetic things and some gameplay being able to be changed, but the developers hope to keep on expanding and adding to what you can do with mods down the line. There’s a 20-page document covering what you can currently edit if you’re curious about the details.

You can grab Dead Cells on the Humble Store or Steam. The developers have also stated that there will be a price increase after the current Steam sale in anticipation of its release out of Early Access.
I hope the Linux version will also be on GOG, I love these type of games.

During the beta the game was only advertised as Windows game. Also you had to opt in for the beta to test the Linux client.

It was supposed to be live for you guys right now, but we're having a bit of trouble uploading the build to the servers. We've got crappy internet here and there seems to be a bottleneck on the other side too. We'll get it up for you guys tomorrow for Mac and hopefully Linux too, but definitely in the next few days.

I'm having problems with the detection of the Steam Controller in the game. Normally the games detect it as a Xbox360 controller, and the buttons get mapped as the 360 ones, but just when I launch the game, I see a message with the recomendation of using a controller instead keyboard/mouse. When I click a button, the in game display for the action of controller buttons change to the keyboard ones.
Anyone with the same issue?
I believe they've noted an issue with Steam Controller being detected as mouse+keyboard. Not sure of the fix - I went back to my Xbox360 controller a few months back.

It happened a few times with my Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers but is quite rare. Just restart the game. That's what i did to get past the few times it happened.

In the mean time, I created a sc-controller profile in order to be able to play Dead Cells correctly.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
