Daedalic Entertainment have announced that their futuristic thriller 'State of Mind' is going to release on August 16th with Linux support and pre-orders are now open.

I completely forgot this was a thing, since I haven't covered anything about it since 2016! Turns out, they released a new teaser trailer back in April which you can see below:

I think it looks great, really excited to give it a go. Here's what they say it will feature:

  • Experience an alarmingly realistic vision of the near future
  • Dive into a multi-layered Sci-Fi thriller, where dystopian reality and digital utopia are intertwined
  • Unravel a global conspiracy in a society of ubiquitous digitalism, surveillance and transhumanism
  • Explore a world with a rich and unique visual style, combining realistic environments with low-poly characters
  • Take on the role of journalist Richard Nolan, as well as five additional playable characters
  • Use dexterity, skills of deduction and research to reconstruct Richard's past

You can find it on both GOG and Steam.

As a reminder, if you want to pick up some cheap Daedalic games now, do take a look at The Humble Daedalic Bundle 2018.

Thanks for the tip, NuSuey.

If a government wants to install anything into your brain/head/body, just don't mkay!

I see allot of sci-fi movies and stuff these days with people putting lots of hack-able and exploitable stuff in their body, people of the future sure seem ultra naive!

You don't want this activity scanning device in your body?
Well, fine, you just cannot profit from health insurance fee discounts...

Just (get a time machine and) ask people from 30 years ago what they think about carrying a device around all the time telling others where you are...

There was a movie recently called Anon where everyone had eye implants in their body which controlled what they saw, it had a nice feature also such as mind controlled HUD system.

Me personally, I'll stick with the AR glasses rather then replace my eyeballs. Some people won't have a choice however, those who loose eye sight or a limb etc...

Quoting: LeopardThis price is crazy high to be honest.

Doesn't that totally depend on the size and content of the game?! We don't know that yet... If this is a full AAA campaign I'd say it's way too cheap, and that worries me. We don't only want small indie games fore a tenner, do we?

Look at IoT and how much of a mess that is.
There is a search engine called shodan.io that actually shows you devices on default passwords.

Then look at PRC and their policy to link their version of Facebook to real IDs and deducing people points if they do "bad" things . Too few points , no travel , no bank account , no rent , etc.

Sometimes it feels that George Orvwell and Aldous Huxley had a baby and our world is said baby.

That's an excellent point, actually. I just assumed it would be a reasonable ten hours or so, with some replay value. If it turns out only to be a couple of hours long and not worth playing again, I'm prepared to change my opinion and admit Leopard's right. But we don't know yet.

Well, I think the Cultural Revolution and Tianenmen Square showed us all what the PRC is like. What's worrying is that back then we could be confident that western governments wouldn't try to copy it. Nowadays they seem to be taking notes.

23 quid its not bad, not saying you are of this mindset but there does seem to be this mindset that indies games should be under 15 quid (18usd) that says to be inheritantly people are always expecting less of indie games than they do triple A. I know not every indie game is gold and I am personally tired of the retro pixel art style games and rouge likes but i know i am in a minority but there are some indie gems that are worth the price. Shovel knight for example is the same price when not on offer as this new game and many people didnt bat an eyelid at shovel knights pricing.

Actaully i was not talking about USD dollar price.

State of Mind cost for me: 100 Turkish Lira on Steam. Enhanced Steam shows it is 26.99 dollars.

Thrones of Brittania Total War : 100 Turkish Lira on Steam. Enhanced Steam shows it is 39.99 dollars.

Clearly , Daedalic took a higher exchange value here than SEGA.
