It's the start of a new week, you're all fresh faced and ready to go but you need a new game. Here to help with that, here's some great Linux games currently going for under a fiver.

Those are all games I consider worth your time, hopefully this helps a few of you sift through the massive pile of sales.
While they're all well known, lots of Valve games are also going incredible cheap, a lot of them are under £1! You can see them in the complete pack here. Rather than linking to each one, just makes it easier.
Lastly, it's not a game but the Steam Link is going for £2.00! I heard you can do some interesting things with them like getting RetroArch on it.

I thought it would be due to having loot boxes in a game released for full price (a very valid reason in my book), but when you actually take a look at some of the current reviews, it's mostly for crashes, very bad optimization - and a mediocre story.

FYI, Move or Die is crashing on start up with a lot of people with the Linux version, it has been for months now. I sent a support ticket to them Friday, hopefully the issue will be resolved soon, it's a great game.

Dumb question. What's your opinion on Terreria? I have Starbound and heard it is very similar. Is it better, worse, totally different? Would it be a waste to have both if I'm more of a casual gamer?

I've never had an issue starting it and I don't really see any Linux users saying so in the Steam forum and this is the first I've heard of it. Got any links about it?

Ugh, I'm not sure I can resist the temptation to finally get Borderlands 2, especially when the GOTY edition is less than CDN$10 and I've got a buck or two that I made selling cards sitting on my account. Probably mostly play it single-player, but looking around I gather it's not too bad in that mode when you've got all that DLC to run around in.

The base game is great for solo play. Also a lot of gameplay. It took me almost 90 hours to finish all the quests (including the creature arena from the DLC).
The DLC are a different story. When you finish the base game, you're going in over levelled for the DLC and they're no fun at all. Solution is to switch to True Vault Hunter Mode so the DLC are back at your character level, but that makes them quite tough. Some of the bosses can't even be taken down with a full load of ammo. Look like they were clearly balanced for co-op so that the fight just continues after one of the players dies.

so maybe just getting the base game rather than GOTY is a better idea? It'd certainly be cheaper, and I'm unlikely to play much co-op.

Personally I would get the GOTY anyway. The two extra playable characters in there are actually very good (I used one of them my entire 160 hours of game time) and easily worth the difference.
With some determination and a little bit of cheesing (would I do that?
) you can finish the DLC as well. I only got into real trouble in the Hammerlock DLC where you can actually have trouble with a couple of the regular enemies. Need to pick it up again to do the Tiny Tina DLC, which is supposed to be fantastic.Last edited by Ehvis on 25 June 2018 at 3:48 pm UTC
