Oxygen Not Included [Steam], the fantastic space-colony sim from Klei Entertainment is set to get even more interesting in the Cosmic Upgrade that's now in beta.

Previously, you were locked into the innards of the asteroid your Duplicants were trying to survive on. With this update, that's set to change with a brand new Surface biome. It will have solar light, meteor showers with 3 different kinds of meteors, vacuum regions to send gases and liquids away and so on.

In addition to this, you will gain some new tech as well like solar panels, window tiles, bunker doors and walls, a meteor detector and quite a bit more. Find the full details in this post, to test it out simply opt into the "cosmic_upgrade_testing" beta branch on Steam with no password needed.

That's all well and good, but it's going to take me a small lifetime to ever get that far. If someone isn't running around angrily hitting everything or urinating everywhere, they're probably throwing up in my only source of clean water or something. If they're not doing that, they're getting trapped between something, suffocating and dying. I never said I was a good ruler…good job I can print more Duplicants. Welcome to the colony, your first job is to bury the person you're replacing and no we don't pay overtime.

I have to be honest, it's one of my top building sims along with Rise to Ruins. Funny really, two of my favourites are in Early Access and constantly being updated with more interesting stuff like this. If you haven't taken a look yet, you're really missing out. One of the most engrossing games I've ever come across.

Hiw is this game compared to fallout shelter, which I hated because it requires you pay constant attention to it like those damn Tamagotchi

I picked up this game last week after seeing it somewhere. Im a big Rimworld fan and thought this looked interesting. I have a good time with it, but cant get past like cycle 30 and 2nd tier research, at that point, the complexity of the various research systems just overwhelms me and I get frustrated, that or my dupes do. I know I just need to spend more time with it, but I wish there was better in-game help to explain some of the various aspects. I know its still early access, so I do give it some leeway.
