Exciting news for fans of turn-based strategy games as the second backer build of Phoenix Point is scheduled for July 3rd. Even better, they're now rolling out across Linux, Mac and Windows at the same time.

Here's what's to come:

New class, The Technician. This unit will come with an Assault Rifle (which means they can return fire), a grenade and fun looking Mech Arms. These special arms will be able to heal team mates, including damaged limbs and deploy a turret! On top of that, they can also be used for offense that will also stun enemies.

The first vehicle, The Armadillo. It will be drivable, it has a large movement range, can drive through most obstacles but due to its size it won't be able to reach all areas. It's also armed and dangerous, with a roof-mounted turret that has unlimited ammo. Not as powerful as the Heavy's LMG, but still good. Not enough excitement for you? It also has a ram ability to flatten a bunch of enemies!

Oh—the Technician can also repair it!

Naturally, the enemy will come prepared. As you adapt, the enemy does too, so prepare yourself.

They're also going to give more information when taking a shot with the aiming system, an option to enable the free camera mode, added 2 new base maps for the random generation and improved the lighting.

In addition to all that, they say they will be including plenty of quality of life fixes and of course plenty of bugs will be destroyed. Full details will be up when the build is live.

Full details here. I couldn't be more excited, I've put more hours than I care to admit into the first backer build as the atmosphere is incredible, it's like XCOM on some serious steroids. If you want to try it now, you can purchase it here and you need the Luxury Digital Edition for the early builds.
