Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.6 Tsumihoroboshi recently released as the sixth chapter in the series and they all have Linux support.
From what I understand, they're slight remasters over the original versions. They include both English and Japanese text as well as the option to choose the original or the updated character sprites. The series has been popular with both users and critics, to the point that it has both Manga and Anime adaptions. So to have the games on Linux is quite a treat it seems!

You can grab it from GOG and Steam. Both stores have a bundle where you can buy all chapters together, so that's nice.

Higurashi are amazing visual novels , not trash like the sakura's ones :p It's a gem and a japanese classic with a good story , a lot of suspense. Need to like to read though. They're not short. But at least I recommend to watch the anime ^^ The visual novels are a lot better than the anime but it's also quite good :D

i haven't played this one, but danganronpa is a visual novel hard to beat, if this one is better, it really has a huge wow factor

Came here to say this. Some people don't like Kinetic visual novels because they're used to having choices to branch the story which I understand. I don't mind it if I know it going into one and if the story is top notch.

This is more a book than a game, but it is classic and really worth money.
The story is great. If you like books I think you will like this one. Start with part1 though.

I'm sort of relieved that they aren't the norm anymore, at least from a pragmatic, realistic point of view. But IRL, I'd imagine bigger girls and girls on their periods would probably have a lot of difficulty with this uniform.
