For those watching any of the E3 livestreams, you might have noticed that We Happy Few [Official Site] developer Compulsion Games has joined Microsoft as a Microsoft Studio. Thankfully, We Happy Few is still coming to Linux.
As soon as I got back to my desk, I opened my inbox to see a number of worried readers. Naturally, I was also concerned. So I spoke with the developer shortly after about continuing Linux support, they told me this (quoted with permission):
Hey Liam
Yes, We Happy Few is still coming to Linux. Sorry for causing your readers concern!
Cheers
Sam
In regards to a release date, they said this to me:
We have a build working internally but we haven't announced a Linux date yet. It'll be coming to Steam and GOG.
Really good news, a game I'm personally very excited to try as it looks simply incredible. Easily one of the best looking games thats coming out this year.
Since you're here, check out the newest trailer released today:

CDPR have a strong stance on being DRM-free, and so far they are not changing it, so for CP2077 it is expected. I'm more interested in what happened to their Linux plans. They messed up TW3 for Linux plans and never talked publicly about what it means for future games.
That silence means NO.
That silence means NO.
Silence means they messed up and don't want to talk about it. But it says nothing about what else they can decide.
This game was changed so many times, got a deal with Gearbox for they to publish and now MS bought the studio.
4 Years of development and i hope know they finally launch this game.

They will also be founding a new studio in Santa Monica called The Initiative. The Initiative is a Santa Monica studio lead by Darrell Gallagher, who Xbox head Phil Spencer said is “a visionary storyteller” who has worked on “some of the most iconic franchises for over 20 years,” such as Tomb Raider.
Isnt the rtheory on MS's buying spree that they are adding developers to theuir roster in order to bolster the XBox ones lackluster exclusive offerings. So sadly I would expect most of these developers to now code for Xbox exclusively or at the evry least any otehr platform would be further down the foodchain more than it already is.
For future games, totally.

IMO not so much ‘for Xbox’ but rather ‘for UWP’ – so I wouldn’t be surprised if their marketing claimed they all create multiplatform, buy-once-run-everywhere games, ie. ‘buy on MS Store and you’ll have permission to play it both on Xbone and on Windows 10’…
EDIT: yup, they already do that. ;-)

Then Valve have to counter attack with SteamOS :D
Microsoft announced at E3 today that they have acquired Forza Horizon developer PlayGround Games, State of Decay developer Undead Labs, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice developer Ninja Theory, and We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games.
Well, nice knowing these developers.

Quite a lot of good potential wasted (for Linux gaming). Here the common expectation applies fully - whatever MS touches, turns to garbage.
