Grab a glass or two as Wine is flowing. Today we have the release of Wine 3.12 as the latest development release.

Here's the highlights:

  • Unicode data updated to Unicode 11.0.0.
  • Proxy configuration dialog in the Internet control panel.
  • Syntax fixes in the Cmd.exe command intepreter.
  • Some more glyphs in the Wingdings font.
  • Various bug fixes.

In regards to bug fixes, they noted 40 being closed. As always though, some are older bugs just getting some attention that were fixed previously. Specifically, they noted fixes for Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition, League of Legends, multiple games like Diablo III, World of Warcraft and Overwatch needed a fix that affected all of them and so on.

Also, for those after videos from WineConf 2018 they're up on this PeerTube instance.

I've never played those games, so no idea. But you can check Wine logging for errors. The name of the library is listed in those messages at the beginning of the string.

Example of something like that:

fixme:devenum:DEVENUM_ICreateDevEnum_CreateClassEn umerator Category {cc7bfb41-f175-11d1-a392-00e0291f3959} not found
fixme:devenum:DEVENUM_ICreateDevEnum_CreateClassEn umerator Category {cc7bfb46-f175-11d1-a392-00e0291f3959} not found
fixme:quartz:MPEGSplitter_query_accept MPEG-1 system streams not yet supported.

QuoteThis wine version show more work with quartz, devenum and amstream

mrdeathjr could you tell me more about this?

These are multimedia libraries, which affect video and audio playback in many older games. You often had to install native overrides to get sound and video sequences. If Wine developers fix them - there won't be any need for it.

Would this help with things like the Resident Evil Remakes? Always had trouble getting it to work properly, I think it uses something called "bink video" or something but I did install WMP as suggested on wineHQ iirc, which got the intro cutscenes to work but the game still crashed upon starting a game before the opening cutscene :(

Well Lutris has scripts for all the remakes they work well it boot as i am not keen on the remakes its as far as i ll dive in but i confirm they start at least as far as menu screen and loops to gameplay demo
