What are you playing this weekend?

By -

The weekend has arrived and for many of you this is likely your best time to boot up your favourite game, so what are you all playing?

The weather over here has turned for the worst, we've gone from ridiculous heat to stormy showers and so the majority of my time will likely be staring at a brightly lit screen. Naturally, that means I will be playing some awesome Linux games.

I'm likely going to be throwing out my usual experiences for something a little different—ah who I am kidding? I'm totally going to be jumping in at the deep end with Oxygen Not Included's latest update. Such an insanely engrossing game, multiple times I've loaded it up and time just gets sucked away into a black hole.

So my awesome readers, what are you clicking on this weekend?

I also just got a rabbit, so a lot of my time will be staring at it going "It's so fluffy!". I'm also 30 on Monday, so I won't be around much then for gaming.

West of Loathing.

Funny RPG with a proper western atmosphere, that is much better than it has any right to be.

If you like funny/parody westerns, that game is a must play. At least the first 5hours were great, now its kind of loosing its charm on me. Still good though.

Just finished some (GZ)Doom wads: Harmony, Project Einherjar, Batman Reborn. Now playing Pirate Doom.

Undertale. I am enjoying the cutesy story and the cheesy humor but I hate bullet hell games so the 'combat' is a chore.

That's what made me give up on the game. Watching Samsai play some of the later battles, clever as they are, convinced me that was the right idea.

As for me, still working my way through the Room series of puzzle games. I got Old Sins recently, but I want to re-play the original trilogy before I get into that.

Played "Pillars of Eternity 2" for about an hour before the roomtemperature became too suffocating. I also installed "Slay the Spire" and "Helium Rain" to have ready when the time comes for more regular gaming again,

Got Sunless Sea from a free GOG thing a bit back. Played a bit yesterday and the whole thing just clicked for me. So, guess I'll be doing Sunless Sea.

I'm really getting into Mount & Blade: Warband lately. Currently siding with the Swadians against the Rhodoks and Nords :)

No man’s sky on wine. It has some lag when you stop walking, but it works.
I also wanted to try Arma 3 experimental port with exile mod, but windows servers are not compatible...

I think I'll be messing up with WINE, mainly to play The Sims games (2, 3 and 4) even smoother than what it is right now.

Mass Effect: Andromeda. I've been holding off on this due to horrendous first impressions from people whose opinion I respect, but out of sheer boredom (and longing for the original trilogy) I've decided to give it a shot. 4-5 hours in, the game is... ok, I guess. It doesn't have that Mass Effect soul but it's not completely horrible either.

This is also my first experience with Lutris + DXVK and I have to admit, everything runs perfectly. 1440p resolution, everything on ultra and I get 70/130 min/max fps, with the average around ~90. Absolutely amazing!

Probably Stellaris; maybe I'll mess with wine a bit and get SteamForwarder to work, and tweak things to get DarkSouls3 running better.

It's nowhere as bad as people made it out to be (and I'm saying this as one of the rioters in the aftermath of ME3); I'm glad it runs well under wine.

It's 32 degrees and I'm a programmer, that worked above 50 hours in last week. I'm not touching PC this weekend. Although I will play some Knights and Merchants next week though.
I was also trying to finally give a try to Baldur's Gate, but after beating Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, BG seems to be little bit too archaic...

This weekend i am replaying Witcher 3 for the 3rd time, first time on Linux, with Wine 3.13 and DXVK 0.63. I have to say, it runs pretty well all things considered. Speed is almost on par with Windows. Color me impressed.

Yeah I've been playing Witcher 3 as well. Thanks DXVK! Sure there are a few little things that don't display correctly, but sometimes its amusing.

I never really got the negativity. The game itself is quite good, i really liked the combat. The story is rather nonsensical, but i haven't liked any of the stories since the original ME. Both ME2 and 3 had big plot holes. ME3 made all the choices you made earlier pretty much inconsequential just to shorten development time. EA sucks

Clone Hero and Frets On Fire X. I have some issues with FoFiX but Clone Hero runs pretty well for now.
I bought an adapter PS2 -> USB and my Guitar Hero 2 Controller works in both games!

For FoFiX, when I play the notes in-game I don't hear any sound (but the voices and others instruments are fine, weird), but the guitar.ogg file works fine in an audio player...
And the same files works without issues in Clone Hero...
I have many Guitar Hero Games on PS2, so I will try to get all the songs.
