Crazy Justice [Steam], the third-person shooter with Battle Royale modes is supposed to be entering Early Access tomorrow so they've finally put out a proper gameplay video.

The Battle Royale modes are supposed to be free to play, however, we've been getting some conflicting reports from their Discord channel. It's not entirely clear if they will be free to play while it's in Early Access or not. It would be strange if it wasn't considering their Steam page clearly says so.

Anyway, here's the gameplay:

However, there's some obvious rough edges. The footstep sound for example, is pretty annoying—it sounds like someone is gently fisting a bag of sand constantly so that's going to need improvements. The weapon sounds are also extremely dull, they don't sound like they have any kind of power to them at all. Of course, it would also be a lot more interesting when it's live with more players since they were only testing with a few of their team here.

Minor gripes aside, it looks exactly like I would expect a Battle Royale mode to look like, which is a good thing for us.

Very much looking forward to finally getting this in my hands. You can follow it and wishlist it on Steam.

Gameplay looks fun! But both sound and music needs a massive overhaul imo... I can't listen to that stuff for hours, that's too darn sure.

I'd turn music off in a game like this anyway. If the music was even from the game. The sound is really annoying indeed, but they said in the comments that it was on their to do list. And apparently they changed a few already. Still, it was quite obvious that they didn't have a real sound engineer working on it.

Honestly, for simple things like footsteps, they could probably find some public domain sound that's way better than what they currently have.

Wow, that's a lot of blur. Is the movement supposed to be as jerky/janky as it is right after the player lands?

I like the addition of explosive barrels, that's a fun touch, but a lot of the environments look pretty bland. There's no real character to them.

Hopefully they'll replace those little text tooltips with something a bit easier to read at a glance. Plus picking up stuff seems a little finicky. The player seems to take a couple of tries to pick something up early in the video. And yeah, the SFX is terrible.

Otherwise though, it seems like a fairly solid Fortnite clone Battle Royale game. Certainly better than a lot of the others on the market.

I think it would be a lot better, if there was a bigger area around an item to pick it up. It would make it a lot smoother.

Yeah, even with the obvious issues, it's not a finished game, hopefully it will improve. The addition of skills (and actual Linux support) could be fun and the mode without skills for the people who prefer it is a nice touch too.

One thing I find a little worrying is that we've never actually seen a video with more than a couple of people in the match. Here it was only 6. Makes you wonder if they ever tried it with a hundred.

Edit:
Looking at the new video it is also kind of odd that it's not visible on which side of the "circle" you are. Doesn't look like it shows on the map either.

It also looks like it's way too easy to shoot out the walls. But maybe that's just due to test settings.

I do think the footstep is silly but for me more weird is how randomly it gets activated.
Like every other step or so.

The weapons do look like a plastic toy gun.

I hope they offer enough uniqueness by release to stand out beside the behemoths that are Fortnite and PUBG.

Ok so it is out and it is rough...

initially the games will not launch on linux, it complains about a missing libsteam_api.so. It is present but in a different directory so something went wrong with their bundling

pwd
/opt/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Crazy Justice/CrazyJustice/Binaries/Linux
[jrb:/opt … mon/Crazy Justice/CrazyJustice/Binaries/Linux] $ readlink libsteam_api.so
../../../Engine/Binaries/ThirdParty/Steamworks/Steamv142/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/libsteam_api.so
[jrb:/opt … mon/Crazy Justice/CrazyJustice/Binaries/Linux] $

It launches fine BUT if it crashes (and it does quite frequently) it will ROYALLY mess with your sound and it doesn't cleanly crash ... I am going to have to look into cgroups for process isolation to help kill all of it.

When you are on the airship it is LAGGY...
When you then look at the island you can see missing textures but luckily this is just some of the ground.

Now... when the arena 1st shrinks there is CRAZY lag but then it settles down...

You cannot customise your keybindings, none of your settings are saved so the build is quite early beta.
Fundamentally... its a BR game but it is rough

Thanks. Got it to work, as well. Had to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the CrazyJustice.sh starter script. It's very rough, but I'm hopeful. I'm fine to wait. Unfortunately, I told my 10-yr old and now he's excited.

Thanks for the report. Unfortunately, this is about what I expected. Doesn't look good for a public release though.
