I'm not really sure what Black Riddles Studio are doing with Crazy Justice [Steam] at this point, as they seem to change their mind about it constantly. They constantly said Early Access was coming out on August 23rd. When actually, it wasn't at all.
Instead of Early Access, they decided to send it to only their backers. After testing it, I'm really not surprised. I've seen a lot of bad releases in my time to be fair to them and since it's unfinished, issues are to be expected. The problem is it's quite literally broken. I would have expected such glaring issues to have never been sent out to their backers.
So many issues with it, I honestly don't know where to begin. To be clear, I'm well aware that it's an unfinished game but let's remember they had planned to launch this last month. Given the state it's in a month later, that's pretty damn worrying.
Firstly, the Linux version doesn't even launch because it cannot find the "libsteam_api.so" file. Fixing that is easy, they either need to adjust their launch script so it knows where it is or copy it over to the same folder where the executable is. If that's not in their first update, I will be both amused and disappointed due to how easy it is to solve.
When you go to enter the game, it will instantly count down even though there's only two people. It doesn't seem to wait until it has a group of people, so you don't really get a chance to have a good game.
Even worse, is that there's black patches all over the map, which is probably some sort of broken shader. That's not the absolute game-breaker though! Being a game with a Battle Royale mode (the only mode currently live) it has a storm that gradually reduces the play area. As soon as that starts moving, the FPS completely nose-dives down making it completely unplayable and the storm never stops moving.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, you also need to register again to even login to the game and it doesn't save your login details, so you need to login again every time you load it. I've seen players on Windows unable to even open the map (works for me), the map doesn't even show your own location, some people have been in a game where there's literally no loot and the list just goes on and on from there.
As a backer, someone who pledged $30 to them to help make it happen, I fully want them to succeed. So my words aren't written out of spite as I really do hope they learn from this experience. They've got a lot to prove, let's hope they recover and hammer out some fixes.
I will continue testing it as time goes on and update you when the situation is better.

It's using Unreal, not Unity. Probably the same or similar stock assets in both stores though.

It's weird because the BR mode was a late addition to the game. Half of the issues should have been worked out for the original game. Especially the sound, since that is such an important part of shooters.
The really should have pulled in the backers for testing way back with the E3 build. I don't see them releasing anything free to the public in a short time now.
There is going to be pressure to finalise something to start pulling in $$$, the longer the game is in development the more likelihood it just fizzles out

I just hope they don't wait a week or so to fix all this, the longer it's left in this state the worse it will be for them. I'm still in a bit of shock it was sent to people like this.
They showed it off at MIX during E3...so how did it get so bad?

They demo on switch so probably had a private lan for that. Maybe they just couldn't get all the "shinies" merged in and just decided to release

Oh, and BR games, which are dropping like flies at this point. But hey - everybody decides for themselves. Hope you get your money's worth out of it.

They have gone through periods where they said nothing at all... and they were ruthless "purging people" from discord because anyone who told someone how to get a refund it seems wasn't wanted on their server.
I don't actually think they are a good company and they def only care about retaining any money they got from backers but honestly don't believe they deserve it purely on how they have been treating everyone across all platforms.
It's almost like they gave early adopters their keys so they can just say well you've played your 2 hours no refunds, when they eventually pull the plug.
I'm just glad it's coming.
