The latest and greatest in fine Wine [Official Site] is out today with Wine 3.14 filled with features and the usual bug fixes including support for DXTn texture decompression.
Their feature highlights for this version:
- Support for DXTn texture decompression (S3TC).
- Deferral support for MSI install actions.
- Support for Japanese keyboard in DirectInput.
- More improvements in the standard Task Dialog.
- A few more icons in Shell32.
They also noted 36 bug fixes. The usual reminder applies here, not all bugs marked as solved were fixed by this release. Some are old bugs that were fixed some time ago and only now noticed. Notably, they fixed issues with the Battle.net launcher, Cube World, multiple games were crashing with CSMT enabled, Wargaming Game Center had a fix and more.
See the release announcement here.

Quoting: GuestQuoting: mrdeathjrBaja Edge of ControlThis game seems interesting! Too bad THQ Nordic didn’t bring it to Linux. We don’t have enough fun, DRM-free racing games. (In fact there’s only one, Flatout 2, and it hascrappyno gamepad support.)
Still a chance on that though as THQ Nordic/Deep Silver have recently said they will go be porting older ip to Linux the first was desperados so it could happen.

Quoting: GuestoOoooOo!!! Bomberman R is now working in wine?! Sweet! the blocks were always invisible previously in wine, great to know it's working as normal now
Seeing quite a few other games in your tests I have interest in too like Vanquish
Great work as always mrdeathjr :)
Yeah DXVK progress is impressive
Vanquish runs but mouse behavior :><: still be a pain in ass without forget save settings problem (bayonetta too)
Almost forget thanks

Quoting: GuestI'd use controller for both bayonetta and vanquish myself, prehaps the buggy mouse behaviour wouldn't be a problem with a controller instead?
Thanks for mentioning Bayonetta, I'd love to play that on Linux even more-so then Vanquish.. Looks like I'm gonna have to free up some space on the ole hard drive and take these games for a spin ^^
Have you tried DMC HD Collection yet? That's another game on my top-list of games I'd love to play on Linux!
Oh and btw, you should be able to delete that double post yourself now, I think GOL added that feature a couple months back now (the big cross (X) symbol next to Edit)
Double edit: agree, DXVK is making massive progress, as with wine.. Both those things are just such great examples of fantastic software development, I take my hat off to the people who make the software
Yeah various games with controller works without issues
But with who playing with keyboard still affected
Respect dmc hd collection dont run in last test
However maybe can try in future
And thanks for delete tip
^_^

I've just installed wine after purging my old copy, and following the instructions to put the right repo on and install wine stable. And I now am the proud owner of - Wine 3.02. Also had to fix the steam can't download bug too. Am I missing something? What's the recommended repo these days?

What is the point of implementing s3tc in wine if it's present in virtually every driver, by the way?

Some games ask Direct3D to decompress the texture, touch it up a bit, and then send it to the driver. Don't ask me why, but here's an example.

Incredible:
Some games (DarkSiders, Dark Souls prepare to die edition) had some issues with the gamepad, they didn't detect it or the controls were badly emulated (the famous spinning camera bug).
It seems this problem does not occur anymore if you use Wine 3.14 and https://github.com/kozec/dumbxinputemu dll.
What did the Wine team changed with the xinput emulation?
