Hollow Knight is now finished as Hollow Knight: Godmaster was just released as the final chapter of the Knight's story. It was originally going to be called Gods & Glory, but they changed the name of this final update.

Explaining the reason for the name change, the developer said it's so that it "doesn’t conflict with the title of a certain mobile game, made by a very large, very powerful video game company".

Following on from the other free expansions with Lifeblood, The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams here's what it's all about:

Hollow Knight: Godmaster is the final chapter of the Knight's story and the hugest content pack by far! Meet all-new characters, take on all-new quests, hunt for all-new secrets, and most of all, prepare yourself for an incredible battle to take your place once and for all amongst the gods of Hallownest!

As if I needed more excuses to jump back into this wonderful game.

To celebrate the release, the game has also just gone on sale. Grab it from Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

I'm going to buy it with the money I refunded from Doom. Looking forward to dying several times. :D

Why did you refund Doom?

Why did you refund Doom?

I'm one of a very small amount of people who couldn't even get it to launch. It couldn't find a config file that needs to be generated by at least going to the menu, judging from my research. I've tried using others online, but it didn't work. Since this is two-days new, there's no work around. It's $20, so if it does get fixed in a month or so I would buy it again.

Finally, I can play. Looking forward to it.

It's not working for me in Ubuntu 18.04. It crashes immediately after a second or two. Seems to be happening to quite a few folks.

Good to know, because I am thinking about getting it as well. I often forget about the ability to refund since I don't think I've done it before.

I'll have to do a PC/PS4 graphics comparison because I could get a used copy on PS4 cheaper than the Steam version and then resell it when I'm done. I know, I know, I wouldn't experience the coolness of playing a Windows game using Steam Play. *gives Reason a glare*

Haha. I played the original campaign and loved every minute of it. I have been waiting for all the DLC to land before going through again.

I am jealous of you getting to play it with new eyes!

Too bad, you're missing out on a seriously sweet game.

I know it may not help you but I run Doom (2016) via Lutris, it installed and played flawlessly first try. Debian sid, KDE, nVidia. I used the install script from Lutris webpage. :)
(Didn't try Steam Play since Lutris worked perfectly.)

In fact, I bought the game a long time ago but never played it deeply.
I just tested it, it ran fine so I closed it. :D
Bu yeah now, I have no excuse!

I have it on the Switch. I would probably install PlayOnLinux or Lutris, but my experience is either it doesn't work or where I'm clicking doesn't match with the cursor. I've only tried a few times with each program, but those tries didn't help my opinion regarding them. WoW was the best at working.
I'm just finishing up dead cells... how the combat in this game? It looks great but the actual combat just looks like hopping around and stabbing to me.
Well, it is a bit hard to answer your question. Hollow Knight is just "hopping around and stabbing" in the same way as Doom is just "hopping around and shooting."

If you have never played a metroidvania, it may be hard to know if you will like it. It is one of the best metroidvanias, though.

Once I heard Hollow Knight was developed by an Australian team, I bought the game on the Humble Store (DRM free version and STEAM key).

The game crashes just after language selection, any tips that can help me please.
I've tried the -noheap launch option and lower resolution, it doesn't work.
Both Steam and no drm versions have this issue on Mint 19 (4.18), Manjaro 17 (4.17) Mesa 18.1.6

Debug info from gdb:

I refuse to debug myself!
No threads.
