Overall, I thought it was a brilliant game. The only part that I was a bit iffy about, was how it cuts from the exploration into the battles which did break immersion a little. That's only a minor gripe though! The battle system certainly is interesting though, quite different to most RPG battle mechanics currently in other games so it's well worth taking a look if you find others a bit too samey.

Features:

  • 7 Unique character classes, each with different strengths and weaknesses.
  • Complex skill system with two exclusive enhancement trees and multitude of options.
  • Skill Gestures - draw some of the skills as you want.
  • Gravity manipulation – leap large distances to scatter your enemies or draw them in.
  • Rich equipment system.
  • 150 enemies with unique skills and tactics.
  • Face 50 Bosses wielding a diverse range of skills and spells.
  • Five difficulty levels, including Epic difficulty (not recommended for new players).
  • Multiple combat modes ensure that there's plenty of variety and fresh challenges ahead.
  • Travel through hand-crafted levels that have been carefully designed to challenge you.
  • New character progression system.
  • Unique Party Alignment system.
  • Combat Challenges, designed to test your tactical and party-building skills.
  • Crafting, enchanting, legendary items.
  • Upgradeable city.

Sorry for the off-topic; but on topic of Bard's Tale. Crazy Brian Fargo... they put this in the kickstarter email;

QuoteAlso, as an extra bonus, I put an "X" on 5 of the signed collector’s boxes that have the team’s signature (look for a photo at the bottom of the update). Anyone who gets one of these special boxes will get all inXile games for FREE for life. Yes, I was thinking of Willy Wonka when I was signing.

That'd be awesome! Haven't played an inXile game I haven't liked. Considering they're basically what happened to Interplay and Black Isle (at least I think most of them ended up there).

Quoting: slaapliedjeWhat's wrong with party based games? Just wondering your opinion on them. I think some of the greatest RPGs ever released were party based.

You know what's fun (sarcastically)? When you try to get together with friends to play Neverwinter Nights and they try to play it like it's Diablo....

What's wrong with ?????-games? Nothing at all, but everyone has preferences and dislikes.
For RPGs I just enjoy more those where I am playing only one role. Too many party members makes it more a strategy/war game. Surely different for multiplayer games, but I play single.
Was just curious. It definitely depends on one's play style. Hence my comment about Diablo vs Neverwinter Nights.

Same people tried playing Baldur's Gate multiplayer the same way; where everyone splits up and tries to kill everything. That doesn't work in the D&D games because you'll get wasted pretty quickly.

Granted I started playing CRPGs back when they were still called CRPGs :P
