Feral Interactive are at it once again, go dust off those thinking caps as they're bringing another game to Linux.
From the famous Feral Radar, here's their latest Linux port teaser:
As a reminder, Feral Interactive have only recently release Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Total War: Warhammer II is confirmed to be coming this autumn. On top of that, last month they also put up another teaser that we're still guessing.
I wouldn't be surprised if they do try to get more ports out earlier now, especially with Steam Play which would eat into their Linux port sales. Anyway…looks like 2018 really will be another great year for Linux gaming!
The amount of Linux games Feral has ported now is kind of ridiculous: XCOM, XCOM 2, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Mad Max, Shadow of Mordor, HITMAN, F1 2017, Life is Strange, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Dawn of War II, Dawn of War III, DiRT Rally and the list goes on.
What do you think "AURORA" will be?
Quoting: scaineSeagulls and Aurora. Isn't there an Aurora in Subnautica? And seagulls would make sense...?I wish! This is a game I've been wanting to play for a long time.
It has issues under Steamplay too. Fingers crossed for this.
Quoting: F.UltraQuoting: PatolaQuoting: jensAs far as I know they announce as soon as they are allowed to. You know what an NDA is?
I will tell you what it is not: it is no excuse from criticisms.
Then you should criticize the one forcing Feral to sign the NDA and not Feral who have no choice what so ever in the matter (other than not signing a NDA and thus not porting the game either).
I must confess to a little bit of confusion here.
Does anyone actually *know* that there is one or several existing NDA(s) that prevents Feral from saying which linux ports they are currently working on, forcing them to resort to hints and vague suggestions. Or is this just general speculation, that such NDA(s) might possibly exist, or just as likely might not?
I have no idea to what extent NDAs are used in the gaming buisness, nor in what situations they might be viewed as unnessecary or irrelevamt to the situation in question.

On-topic: F1 2018, Life is Strange2, Hitman 2 or Shadow of the Tomb Raider would fit with Feral's history, though no clue from the hints.
Then don't announce anything until the NDA expires.
I agree with Comandante Ñoñardo, at this point in time, it seems a bit silly to start these guessing games.
Then why not just ignore this thread?
Quoting: aldyMetro Exodus - The Aurora TrailerThe Metro games are published by Deep Silver, they have their own porting team & it's not Feral. I think Liam may have hit the nail on the head with this one though, LiS2.

This is called PR. If Feral announces whole list of titles that it has been contacted, that would make a shit storm for couple weeks and after that people will forget about them. By doing that, they keep the interest in a certain point which is much better for awareness. People keep wondering and talking about it which is basically free publicity. Got it?

I thought that I read it somewhere here or in their twitter feed that they announce as soon as they are allowed to do so and that the radar is a way to give some hint before that point in time.
I cannot find a reason why it should be otherwise, especially now with Steam Play I guess you would want to announce as soon as possible. No idea though what a reason could be to withhold an announcement, may be that negotiations are not finalized? Dunno..
Ark????? too late!
There’s a game called Aurora 4X...
Oh, maybe Far cry 5???

So you become a bird and just run/(fly?) around waiting for people to shoot you? Sounds fun, especially if your trigger button makes you squawk.

Quoting: LeopardWell ,let's narrown down list to SquareEnix , SEGA before jumping into conclusions.
Fuck it ; Skyrim!
I think i can narrow it down~
1.) Aurora -> aurora borealis -> can only be seen in the north = Nordic -> Nordic Games = THQ
2.) Seagulls = birds -> Ravens are also birds -> Blood Ravens -> Dawn of War = Original Dawn of War confirmed!
There you go~
Quoting: sevenits PACMAN, it just has too be. so obviousFinally! After all these years the package manager of Arch will finally be native. So tired of running that shit through Wine. So thankful for Feral right now.

I think that would be an intentional decision comes from Feral.
Remember they announced Batman Arkham Knight for Mac / Linux and got cancelled?
No the requirement to sign a NDA comes from the publisher. Feral and Linux is the very very small dog in this play so there is just no way that they approach a big publisher like Square with not only the crazy notion of doing a Linux port but also require that Square would sign a NDA not telling any body that Feral is porting a specific game.
It's the publishers that require such a NDA, as for exactly why we can only speculate but considering all the other insane stuff that some publishers are up to I'm not 100% sure that there exists what we would call a logical reason.
Quoting: liamdaweFrom reddit: "It's propably LIS2. Aurora Creek was the original name of arcadia bay."
And then I googled to find this: http://life-is-strange.wikia.com/wiki/File:BtS_Aurora_Creek.jpg
Seems pretty solid to be Life is Strange 2. Unless Feral are trying to throw us off :P
Yep, I just did the same search and raced over here to post it... so much for that, haha :)
Sounds like a pretty solid lead since you'd find seagulls near the Arcadia Bay.
Two new games is good Tomb Raider and Hitman ^^
