Update: Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is now announced, we're unsure if it's related to this but still worth noting.

As if we haven't had enough teasers from Feral Interactive already, they're at it again today so what do we think is going on?

Writing on Twitter and Facebook, they simply said this:

macOS and Linux fans, hold on to your novelty video game-themed baseball caps. Big things are happening. Let’s meet back here, this time next week, and reflect on it all...

While including a lovely picture of a big cat (like their logo) and that's all that was said.

I'm going to assume this is either a game about to be released or they're going to reveal the actual games they've been teasing lately. We know they're porting Total War: WARHAMMER II but there's two other Linux ports they've teased. They seem to be moving a bit quicker with things lately, especially since they only released Life is Strange: Before the Storm for Linux two weeks ago.

The other two teasers currently on their port radar (as a reminder) are these two:

While they've often done teasers for new games, teasing something so vague like this on their social networks telling us to stick around is certainly new. I'm not sure I can handle all this excitement! What do we all think this is then?

Quoting: Guestpolluting our social media
How dare they put something of little informational value in our putrid sea of toxic waste! :><:

So let me get this straight: Just because social media are already a putrid sea of toxic waste, we should add more on top of it?
A bit of marketing is like a drop in the ocean: It simply doesn't make a difference.

Quoting: GuestThese announcements are wasted energy and just NOISE. They don't increase Feral sales, they don't help Linux gaming, they do nothing but generate useless internet traffic and waste everyone's time.
I believe the contrary statements in this single thread debunk your theory. Some people obviously enjoy these messages, which means it's not a waste of their time.

It will be a big thing if they are partnering with 2K or another big name, and release all of their futur titles.

Otherwise if they are just announcing a new title, it just will be a normal thing, a cool thing anyway.

They will port all games of any publisher that allows them do to so at once using winelib+dxvk :P

"I Ran" came on the radio yesterday. I spent the entire time analyzing the lyrics for clues. I got nothing.

Quoting: GuestThis is so stupid... Just reveal it already. Or don't talk about it at all until the games are released and we can buy them. What is the point of polluting our social media with vague stuff with no solid info?

Take a look at the rest of the comments and you'll hopefully understand the point.
Some of us enjoys a good quiz. No need for you guys to post that you don't like it every single time.

It's not like the article title didn't mention the fact that it's a teaser as well, I just don't understand the downer attitude some have.

I believe the answer is simple: it's not pollution and it generates engagement with the community.

What "engagement with the community"? Care to elaborate? All they are doing is telling us "hey we might be working in some new games, we won't tell though". That's it.

Well no shit Sherlock, it is quite obvious they would work on more ports, or else they would close the company...

There is no "engagement with the community" here. If "the community" asks about the games, they will learn nothing. There is nothing there.

The hillarious part is when next weak they will announce Total War Warhammer II and Life is Strange 2, games we already know they are working on, and they will reveal to everyone they were wasting our time...

People speculate which tittle it is, trade comments engage with the twitter an Facebook accounts of Feral. It's fun. You know, harmless fun. I enjoy it. It's a good trade for all the political nonsense I see all the time.

The "reflect on it all" part can seem a little gloomy. The timing doesn't seem to coincide with a big anniversary if I look at when the studio was founded or when they started porting games to Linux. So it sounds like something is ending. But they could also be looking back at what led them to a new exciting thing.

The wording, for some reason, reminds me of the early Steam Machine teasers. Could be a new partnership with a publisher that didn't use to want their games ported. Or directly with Valve as some people suggested when Proton was announced. We know there's Mac-related stuff in it, so it would make sense.

And let's just throw an obligatory far-fetched prediction into the mix: Feral are developing their own game and it's a Mac/Linux exclusive.

A new partnership for some ports could be very interesting indeed. I'm both excited and worried due to their wording, but I think their "reflect on it all" is supposed to be more playful than alarming.

That is true, and with the word "aurora" ... a BioWare engine ... :-).

Only Aurora left to confirm now.

I just learned that Dirt: Rally 2 is coming, so even if the chance for a same-day is small I'm hoping that they're already on-board with getting a Linux version of that out as well.

Best damn rally game I've ever played - and still play, period.

Maybe they've been bought by Valve :P
Spoiler, click me
or Microsoft
Honestly, the way they're talking, I wouldn't rule something like that out. I certainly don't think it's just another game (or games). The only other thing I can think of is that they've signed up a major publisher; one of the big Linux holdouts like Bethesda, maybe.

Quoting: GuestIt's Madden 19 lol. As good a guess as any.

If it simply would be a new port, they would use the radar, no?
appetrosyan Sep 27, 2018
Another one? God Feral are doing pretty well aren't they?

Maybe they are opening offices in the US, they already have contract with 2K, and their branch there wants to bring NBA 2K... oh my, one can dream haha.

Whatever it is, I’m sure it will make us talk about it for quite some time. Either from a positive or negative perspective.
