Hand of Fate 2 was already a fun game, but the combat was quite simplistic overall. That's not the case now, with the 'Combat Reforged' update that's now out.

Now, all armours have special bash abilities, which include:

  • Stun Bash: Cause Stun to a single target
  • Stun Blast: Causes Stun to an area
  • Knockdown Bash: Causes Knockdown to a single target
  • Confuse Bash: Causes Confuse, enemies will fight on the player side for a short time
  • Bleed Bash: Causes damage over time, and slows the enemy attacks and movement
  • Freeze Bash: Causes Freeze to a single target

You can also enable enemy health bars, light attacks can now be evaded, an increased chance to knockdown low-health enemies and loads more additions. The Apprentice Mode from the original game has also returned, giving you easier combat if you wish to focus on the deck-building narrative experience the game offers up. There's a bunch of other tweaks to the combat, to make it feel better overall and after trying it out today it's definitely a better experience. Find the full notes on the update here.

Grab it from GOG or Steam. Highly recommend it.

Don't forget that this update also includes a new faction for endless mode, the tree-like Briarfolk (full patch notes on non-combat related changes can be found here.

This stuff is also related to the exciting modding things we mentioned in the previous announcement for this patch (covered on GOL here. We (I work with Defiant from time to time) just updated the SDK to work with Unity 2017.4.2f2, which has an editor build available for Linux.

It'd be really awesome to see more Linux based modders out there, and I'd be happy to spend some time showing anybody interested the ropes. For anybody keen to get into the community, myself and other developers can be found in the HoF Discord thingy along with a few other modders.

Hope everybody enjoys the update!

This update changed the game for me from a grind to a really fun experience. The fighting is just so much more fluent now, and I'm actually progressing! A big thanks to Defiant for sticking with it and delivery such worthy improvements.
