Positech Games have announced Democracy 4 [Official Site], the next evolution of their political strategy game and it's coming with Linux support. For those who think they can run a country or would like to have a go at it, this is probably the closest you will ever get.
This is good to see, because we had Democracy 3 that supported Linux, but Democracy 3 Africa did not support Linux. A shame too, because I rather liked what I saw in Democracy 3 which is why I'm quite happy about this news.
Development sounds like it's in the early stages, with Jeff Sheen from Stargazy Studios taking development and design lead, who just so happens to be the person who also designed Democracy 3 Africa.
The game will be completely updated to reflect modern issues, so no more worrying about the ‘V’ chip and other long forgotten issues, and more worrying about fake-news, social media, and other social phenomena driving politics in 2018 onwards.
The release date is ‘some time in 2019’ and we expect to offer an early-access / playable alpha version to players before the games final release. Target platforms are PC, OSX and Linux.
See the announcement here.
If you want to see what the fuss is about while you wait, Democracy 3 can be found on Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

Quoting: muntdefemsAs for the Electioneering DLC, they must've forgotten to add the icon to the store page, as it is indeed available for Linux since earlier this month:

That's good to know, thanks. Though I checked steamdb before posting and there's no tux icon there either: https://steamdb.info/app/483450/ but I suppose it may be like with Payday 2 dlcs - no tux icon but still work.
