There's a few bits of Rocket League news to go over today, with the start being the Halloween event which is now live.
The event runs until Monday, November 5th at 10:00 PM UTC. During this time, you will be able to earn Candy Corn which can be used to unlock special Halloween-themed items as well as open some special crates to get some extra customisation items. You will have until Thursday, November 8th at 10:00 PM UTC to spend all of your Candy Corn.

In other Rocket League news, they've delayed their cross-platform party feature 'RocketID' until next year. It's an interesting feature, one that should hopefully allow Linux gamers to party up with their friends across various game consoles. I really love this kind of integration, it makes the platform matter a bit less.
Their next in-game event 'Frosty Fest' will start in mid-December and it will run much like the current even, with you earning Snowflakes to exchange for special themed items. December will also be the start of the next Rocket Pass with the current one ending on November 26th, which is an extra payment allowing you to earn even more customisation items (much like a Battle Pass from other games).
If you still don't own it, personally I think you're missing out on a lot of fun. After adjusting my Steam Controller to have sliding and boost on the back paddles, the game has become a lot easier for me to enjoy it a lot more. I do suggest trying that yourself, since it frees up your thumb to jump. I've passed 140 hours in the game now and I don't plan on putting it down any time soon.
You can pick it up from Humble Store and Steam.
Sadly , missing sounds in certain maps after awhile still an issue.
Last updates of RL had performance improvements.

which maps? I haven't been playing for a while because I suck at it and everyone else got good :) but just this week me and my kids decided to give it a go again, and it works wonderfully! speed is great, and no crashes anymore after match. really enjoying it.
though.. still getting a goal is a bit of a chance of luck for me :) but i don't care much about that, I kind of just love playing it beacause it's ridiculous. it's about playing, not necessarily about winning. (for me)

Beach map had that issue. I no longer come across this map on Rumble.
Map with Town in the name ( a little banjo tune plays at the beginning ) have that issue too.
I think the beach is the only one that regularly exhibits the audio bug for me. That's where it happened in Liam's recent Rocket League stream as well. I almost never play anything but the regular soccar though. Might also happen on some of the special arenas.
I've contacted Psyonix but they said , we only support SteamOS , Linux support is in beta.
I wonder if that happens on SteamOS as well.

It looks like salty shores is broken on MacOS and Linux (including SteamOS).

I've seen reports of issues on Switch as well.
The workshop support is also still wonky at best. Most of the textures don't display and so you're looking at an entirely black map.
That said I'm over 1040 hours myself and in the plat-champ range I tend to get matched into there are a surprising number of people who recognize that my steam name /usr/bin/games is a Linux reference and comment on it. Usually the comment is in the form of rm -rf / ... I think it's supposed to be a taunt, but I'm usually just too happy that they know enough about Linux to come up with that taunt to be upset.

Wow , didn't expect that.

The Salty Shores map has been broken on the OpenGL client since its release which was several months ago, they've issued several major patches since then but the map has remained broken. It was semi-broken for all other platforms as well in terms of performance (most players experienced framedrops on it, on any platform), which is usually the case for newly implemented maps. However the last big patch completely removed Salty Shores from all map rotations, Psyonix listened to the tremendous amount of complaints this map received and it is no longer loaded in any matchmaking playlist (ranked or unranked), though you can select it yourself in free play or private match however.
What I found absolutely stunning was the UI improvement in the 1.50 patch, navigating the menus was lagged and clunky before (something I never even knew about until I went over to a friend's house and tried RL on his win machine, the ui was smooth as butter), but with 1.50 this changed and we have a fully responsive interface now. Woop woop.
