The Humble 'Female Protagonist Sale' is live, with some awesome Linux games

In the name of equality I wonder if people would have been outraged if Humble Bundle had a "Male Protagonist Sale"

[Okami HD](https://www.humblebundle.com/store/okami-hd) is still [borked](https://spcr.netlify.com/app/587620) on Proton. :( But it's still funny to see the game in the sale because years ago when the game first came out nobody knew Amaterasu was female! :D

But if you need a four-legged fix on Linux, [Epistory](https://www.humblebundle.com/store/epistory-typing-chronicles) is included in the sale and featuring a large ride-able foxe! :D

It's a very interesting looking typing game I've been meaning to try out for a long time because I enjoyed the Typing of the Dead series, but I've never gotten around to trying it.

Well, all the Japanese people it was originally designed for knew it, given Amaterasu is the name of a pretty famous goddess and all.

As well you should sympatize! Ah, the legions of young boys that have been scared for life by not having the option of playing tombraider as a male protagonist. I tell you; the safespaces were flooded with their tears, some are there weeping still!

I think female game characters are not being marginalized. To marginalize someone is an active thing one does. Are there any pointers at all that there is marginalization going on in the gaming world today or at any time?

I remember that it wasn't really touched on in this game. It was one of those games that didn't make a fuss about gender - like we all should. The main char just happened to be female. That's it.

I saw a stream of Tacoma a while back that had a couple of the people that worked on it as guests (forget who exactly), and if there's ever a game that would benefit by a commentary track, that's it. The "ON3 V3IN" running gag on its own would make it worth it. If you do get it, take the extra time to really poke around and check all the little details.

It's been on my wishlist for quite sometime now, just waiting for a time when I can actually enjoy it :) And perhaps give the developers full price for the game too. Thanks for the tip, will do as you say!

And then again how can anyone be sure whether the game's protagonist actually identifies as "female" by the game makers even though "looking like a female" ... :D

The weird thing is that exactly those people who constantly remind others that gender doesn't matter are those who put great effort into creating new categories, pronouns and names for the thing that isn't supposed to matter in the first place. In a rather ironic turn of events, those who fight categories are masters of putting themselves into ever more categories. Those who demand to be treated equally demand to be treated differently by inventing new pronouns and words and requesting the usage of those from others. They separate themselves from so called "normal cis het people" and demand to be dealt with as if they were the same.

Insanity indeed.

Absolutely! Everybody should have the same rights and should be treated equally, no matter who they are.

This Gender-Rage is tiring. No one cared about Metroid being female. It's bloody fantasy game.
That being said, if a developer needs to virtue signal by genderswapping and putting the 'female protagonist' sticker on their game, I'm out.

And this 'underrepresented'-BS... They're fictional characters FFS.
