Will definitely buy Wither 3 and will wait for release of stable Nvidia drivers with stream output support to test it with Steam Play :)

I second that. That's not to say I don't have windows only games (and some keys still laying around that I might try). I just don't buy them just because of steamplay.

I second that. That's not to say I don't have windows only games (and some keys still laying around that I might try). I just don't buy them just because of steamplay.

I was waiting for the first person to be against it, this argument has been done many times already though. I think people know my own stance: I will buy games I want to play, but only once they are sufficiently old enough that a port is likely not happening.

Please Sales, give me a chance to play what I've got first, I'm begging you! :D

Sales will certainly get more interesting as Proton (compatibility) matures and the whitelist gets longer. I will always buy Linux native first but I'm certainly not against buying some very appealing Windows only games(*). Especially as there are quite a lot we'll never get ports for and as they tend to be "old" games, there'll be some good bargains to be had.

Edit: (*) For clarity: played via Proton, I have had no Win partition for many years.

If my memory is correct...

The Halloween is not a big steam sale, but the winter sale is just as big as the summer sale.

iirc... The Halloween sale is primarily themed for the season with anything zombie, ghost, or horror related.

Don't get me wrong... Halloween is a significant sale event... just don't get upset if the title you are waiting for doesn't get a discount. I'd expect something like Darkest Dungeon and/or Graveyard Keeper during the sale... (assuming Graveyard Keeper isn't too new) But things like Transport Fever, or Oxygen Not Included to be passed during this sale.

That being said, having the normal publisher weekend sale, or mid-week madness sales will still continue at Steam and may include non-Halloween themed titles. But I would still expect the Autumn(Thanksgiving) sale and Winter(Christmas/New Year) sales to be larger events.

One other thing to remember... when steam has their sales, it is not unlikely for other game stores like Humble or GOG to try and compete with sales of their own.

I have few games in my wishlist that I wouldn’t mind trying if they are cheap enough during sales to be honest... Even though they might seat there for years lol.

I propose one simple rule:

Do not buy any game that the developer is not actively testing it on linux. It is not that hard to just install a free linux distro and just run your game. If developers can be at least convinced to at least test their builds on linux that would be a huge win for linux as a platform.

Counterpoint: 1-2% might not be sufficient to change any company's mind

Counter-counterpoint: But maybe being able to play Windows games will help the 1-2% grow?

Absolutely. That I can now (easily) play more of the types of games I really enjoy (1st and 3rd person exploro-shooter open-world action thingies) because of Proton means: Yay! I can play more games that I wanna play! I want to play games and I want to play them on my beloved I-love-it-so-much-I-want-to-marry-it Linux. But whatever UnLinux titles I buy, they're gonna be at least 60% off. ;D

This was one of my points before I believe, I'm hoping such a feature will help the Linux base at least on Steam to grow. If more people do end up playing Windows games through Steam Play developers will see it and start some conversations.

If I remember well, Windows games purchased on the Linux steam client and played via Steamplay-Proton counts as a Linux purchase...
So, just because of the Proton initiative, this time Valve really deserves the 30% cut of the cake...

I don't know You, but I will buy games for to support the Proton initiative... Dishonored is on the top of my list.

I really, really want to play Sleeping Dogs. I have the original but it doesn't start with proton. I saw that the Definitive Edition runs on a PC with RX460 https://spcr.netlify.com/app/307690 (my card is RX460) so now I'm really torn, I was hoping Feral would port the game to Linux so I can support them, they already ported it to Mac, but it's been so long it doesn't seem they're going to do it. So now I constantly add and remove it from my cart.

I will definitely buy Ride, since the demo works like a charm with Steam Play and I'm the happiest Linux player in the world!

Until dont appear flash sales (24hr / 12hr / 8hr and 6hr cited information some time ago) dont want buy anything

I'm excited to test these games with Steam Play.

Shadow Warrior 2 should be fine. I got it in the GOG anniversary giveaway, and it runs flawlessly under “normal” Wine/DXVK. I can't recall having to use any workarounds or tweaks, it Just Works.

(For what that's worth. I still can't get The Flame in the Flood to run at a decent framerate under Proton, even though it was the first game I ever tried with DXVK - being the most recent Windows game I owned at the time - and it was perfect. Don't know what's going on there.)

It's an UE4 game so it might be the nvapi problem. If it is, you can work around it by spoofing an AMD gpu. These are the first instructions I could find. Might be worth a shot.
