DXVK, the excellent Vulkan-based D3D11 and D3D10 implementation used together with Wine that forms part of Valve's Steam Play has a fresh brew ready. The progress is amazing as always, that's the twenty-sixth release this year!

Here's the release highlights of 0.92 as written by the developer:

  • Fixed build issues some users were experiencing with Meson 0.44.
  • Implemented "dmovc" instruction. Fixes a Mandelbrot demo mentioned in #216.
  • LA Noire: Fixed rendering issues caused by a game bug (#744).
  • Lords of the Fallen and The Surge: Fixed visual issues caused by the lack of depth-stencil buffer mapping (#285). This may have a significant impact on performane in these two games.
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Support bit-accurate clears for "R11G11B10" UAVs. This silences an error message in this game, but should have no impact on visuals or performance.

While not as big as previous releases, the developer has stated before there's not a great deal left to do. Most of the major features have now been implemented, so a lot of what comes up are smaller issues in specific games and that will likely continue for a while.

almost every unreal engine 4 games broke with this update on my RX 570
can some one with an amd card test Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 for me

If I may ask... how is DX7, 8 and 9 support under Wine/Proton? I mean when there's not that much left to do for DXVK, what will the dev behind it afterwards besides some bugfixing? :>

The only UE4 game I have is Hellblade, and that still works fine with 0.92. There's no reason why UE4 games would break all of the sudden.

No idea, but there's still some work to be done. Most of it won't be too exciting though.

Well optimized D3D9 over Vulkan would be great indeed. It's probably a more massive effort than D3D11 tough.

Rather than compiling mesa yourself to do the fix, you can just grab [these dll's](https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VCSVVRTa3EKSzKy4DKytEbTdW7nQqKWX) I compiled myself for Arch. Just follow the instructions in the readme.

I've been playing the game with mesa-git and llvm-svn from the [mesa-git repo](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/unofficial_user_repositories#mesa-git) on my system for the last couple of weeks no problem and the fix has survived a month of updates without breaking so far.

That game worked always for Nvidia users on Arch or any other distros. Also worked for Mesa users on Ubuntu too.

Last time I tried LA Noire wouldn't even start for me (Proton). Will give it another chance soon and see if there is more luck now.

Apparently LA Noire requires quite a bit of fiddling.

Ihe issue the game had was funny as well. It creates a bunch of compressed textures with, say, 7 mip levels, but only fills the top 5 mip levels with data and leaves the remaining two undefined. That was causing some interesting visual glitches - DXVK now just clears them to black, which fixes the problem.

Up to Ubuntu 16.04LTS yes but after that it crashes before the main menu. Hopefully that is related to the Arch problem so that copying those two libs over will fix it on Ubuntu 18.04 as well.

No, it's true that some recent versions of Denuvo do not work, but the one used in this game does. It's on it's way to Gold rating on [ProtonDB](https://www.protondb.com/app/750920).

Dx11 performance isn't great though, DXVK is actually faster than AMD's Windows driver in some of the most CPU-intensive situations but ideally you'd want to run the game with Dx12. We're talking about ~30 FPS on my Ryzen 2700X here (arguably not a great gaming CPU, but still).
