Valve as expected have put up the Steam Autumn Sale for 2018 and it comes rammed full of some epic Linux gaming deals.
As always, I aim to give you a couple of interesting titles with good deals to get you started:

- Rise of the Tomb Raider - 80% off (According to SteamDB that's the lowest price ever for Steam)

- Mad Max - 75% off (Easily one of my favourite Feral Interactive ports, also has a Vulkan beta)
- Planetary Annihilation: TITANS - 75% off (One of the biggest RTS games on Linux, with a renewed life recently)

Big question: the Steam Controller is on sale too, I never used a gamepad in my life and a lot of games I own needs one, should I buy it or the Logitech F310? I want a plug'n'play experience with Steam, Proton and/or Wine, and Gog.

What seems often to be forgotten about the Steam Controller is that you don't need to use the touchpads for most games supporting controllers. But they are handy if you want to play some mouse and keyboard games on the couch.

I'm happy with my F310; it's cheap & simple, not as good as a DS4, but it gets the job done. (I used to be KB/M only before getting a PS4; so these two are my only references.)
I've had a little difficulty getting it recognized in a couple of games over *streaming*, though (e.g. Assassin's Creed II). No issues (special settings etc.) with Wine.
(Streaming via Moonlight, that is. I don't remember Steam streaming causing an issue.)

I used to be KB/M only for decades, up to a few years ago when I got the Xbox One controller and it's great to have a controller even as a PC gamer. For some games it's just better and it's nice to be able to lean back and relax your shoulders sometimes. Do I still play games with mouse and keyboard? Absolutely, but it depends on what type of game I'm playing.
One thing I would say about the Steam Controller is that it seems a bit niche. A lot of games are made with the Xbox and PlayStation controllers in mind. The Steam Controller kind of tries to create a keyboard and mouse replacement but that's not what I would personally want from a controller.

Based on your "plug'n'play" wish, I'd recommend the Microsoft XBOX 360 usb controller. It often works with no setup or minimal setup required. I remember my first ever game of Rocket League. Plugged the XBOX 360 controller in and it was detected, all the game controls automatically mapped perfectly, ready to play immediately.
Saying that, I'm not a massive fan of gamepad use in my games (preferring keyboard and mouse wherever possible). As such, even though I own a Steam Controller too, I rarely consider using it.

The Witcher 3
The first 3 are going for just 5€. Hair Works is not working with Nvidia 415 driver in the Witcher 3. I understood that they fixed that, but I lost track in which driver version?

On Ubuntu you can get it from this PPA.
