Make Sail from developer Popcannibal is a reasonably promising game about building boats and attempting not to sink. The latest update is out and adds in a creative mode.
It's quite an interesting mode too, one you can have quite a lot of fun in. It enables you to control ocean wave intensity, wind strength, storm effects and time itself.
At this point, I'm basically a submarine.
To go along with this and to make things a lot more interesting, there's over 80 new blocks available to build your boats with. Not just for the creative mode though, the main gameplay now has ways to unlock them spread across the map.
There's also new options for the UI like being able to toggle the minimap, point of sail, speedometer, goals and input tips. New graphics options, motion blur was removed, bug fixes and performance improvements.
Since I last covered it back in June, it's had a number of other goodies added in too like the ability to control multiple sails, a building symmetry mode enabling faster boat building (which is awesome) and a number of other improvements.
Fun to watch this progress, now it has a lot more building blocks and a creative mode, I hope the developer is able to make the main gameplay a lot more interesting. It has all the basics it needs, it just needs to feel like it has more of a point along with more to see in the world. This is what Early Access is really for, to actually have games in early and evolve over time and so they're doing it right.
Find it now on Steam.
