For those who love their building and management sims, Chef looks like it could be pretty good and the developer is planning Linux support.

When speaking to the developer on Steam, they mentioned that it won't be supported at the initial release but they will do it as soon as they can. They're already testing the Linux version and mentioned about looking for more testers. If you're interested, see their post here. We've reached out to them to offer our help as usual.

About the game:

Chef allows you to personally don a kitchen apron and embark on an exciting career in the wild world of professional cooking. Starting with nothing but pocket change, a small restaurant, and an ambitious dream, you’ll ascend from the life of a humble cook to that of a world-famous chef.

Nothing will prevent you from deciding how to climb to the top of the food chain. Prepare yourself for a true sandbox experience in which all your management choices matter as you build your gastronomic empire. What will it be? A steakhouse? A vegan paradise? A pasta palace? An experimental cooking lab? Only you can figure out which path is best for your establishment.

I'm always keen to seen more games like this, especially since Pizza Connection 3 really wasn't very good. Chef may be able to find a decent niche here, considering it will allow you to customise rather a lot including your avatar, restaurant location and design, the floor and walls and plenty more. It certainly sounds fully featured!

See more about it on Steam.

This could be the first of such sim games I jump at...

I've been waiting for Pizza Connection 3 for quite some time, though the reviews were indeed mitigated to say the least. Chef could be the right competitor, especially if it can push PC3 developers to improve their game a bit as well.

I just hope Chef will be a "real" tycoon, not a puppets house that you need to make pretty so customers come in mass. Games like Planet Coaster and Parkitect are nice, but I feel so alone that I don't really feel I could be outplayed by another park. Two Point Hospital has some kind of competitors in the game, but you can't really interact with them.

I want other companies to compete with, so yeah that's AI. I want prices bargaining, close employees management, financial instruments a bit more complex than 2 "Loan $$$" and "Refund $$$" buttons, send or do crap to competitors. Now we're talking business.

It's from Inner Void, the developers behind ICY which supports Linux already :)
