You may not feed the monkeys but you can feed the penguins as the digital voyeur sim Do Not Feed the Monkeys is now on Linux.

Announcing the Linux release, the developers put out an amusing note:

Dear Club members,

New rule: you are not allowed to feed the monkeys, but you can feed the penguins! The primate monitoring equipment is now available on Linux.

You will be tasked with:

• Monitoring strangers through webcams and surveillance cameras!
• Prying into the private lives of dozens of people you've never met!
• Experiencing fun, surprising, horrific, and dramatic themed narratives!

Sweeping seriousness under the rug, it's a game that's obviously quite lighthearted. It's satire and actually looks like a lot of fun too. Although, some of what it jokes about are serious issues, webcams and security cams do get people peering through them due to lax security.

It can be found on Humble Store and Steam.

Hat tip to NuSuey for the reminder.

Nothing gets installed for me when I download the game on Linux. Guess they haven't ironed out the details yet.

Then they are gonna get spanked!

I'm interested in your (technical and gamewise) experience when you play it.

Ah, that may not be so fruitful.

I didn't really expect DFTM to be my cup of tea, as I've avoided similar games before. DTFM sounded quirky enough that I thought it would be worth a try, but it really isn't my kind of game. I therefore don't really feel that it would be fair for me to comment on it, gamewise.

Apparently I have played it for 6 hours, though much of that time was spent AFK with the game paused. After an early failure, I made it through the first 2 rounds, accumulating 9 and then 16 cages but started to lose interest when I needed to then get 25. At no point did I consider refunding the game.

I have had no issues running the game, since the installation glitch was fixed.

Thanks for your thoughts! I got no idea what to expect here. Maybe it's one of the very seldom cases where I might watch a little video before buying into it. Or I'll keep refunding in mind when trying it.
