Foreveracers is one of those games that's so silly it's good. It's an open-world racer where the physics model makes things rather amusing.

Everything is wobbly, so actually keeping yourself on the track can be a little difficult. If you manage to gather some people together to play it, there's actually a lot of fun to be had with it.

The recent update has made it slightly better too, with the introduction of AI drivers for when you can't bring people together. AI drivers will drop in and drop out as more human players join you, so it's quite clever too. These AI drivers will even join in when you issue a server-challenge, so you're never alone.

On top of that, for those playing with a gamepad there's now some quick-chat options on the D-pad. Press a direction for a list, then press another direction for a quick message. Very handy, really nice for gamepad players.

Having your username on the number-plate is rather cute too:

Feature highlight:

  • All one world - You're free to drive between the different circuits, and explore the world, without any reloading.
  • Day/Night cycle - The racing in Foreveracers never ends, so keep driving night and day.
  • Over 12 circuits - 4 initial circuits, 4 hidden circuits to find, and additional mirrored variants to then unlock.
  • Race challenge - Issue a race challenge to other players, those that accept will line up and race to the finish line.
  • Special Challenge Modes - If you want a break from the racing, then challenge players to a Scavenge Hunt or Rust-Bucket Survival challenge
  • 6 Main Vehicles - from the slow and steady Starter Car, through to the 'too fast' Sports Car, and the frankly ridiculous Clown Car.
  • 2 Handling options - 'Original' for those who enjoy the challenge of the wobbly unstable cars, or 'Stabilised' for those who prefer (slightly) easier handling.

Good fun for adults together, even more amusing to watch kids attempt to race in it.

Since the last time I tried, they've also solved the Unity double-input issue so it's smooth sailing racing.

Note: It seems some users are experiencing problems launching it with a blank screen. If this happens to you, try this as a launch option (Right click -> Properties -> Set launch options):

-screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920

Adjust for your required resolution.

Find it on Steam where it's 50% off during the Steam Winter Sale.

The game does not run for me, I just get a light blue screen and music is playing. Do I need any workarounds ?
( geforce 960, nvidia 396.54, ryzen 1600, ubuntu-mate 16.04 )

That's odd, no issues for me, perhaps their Unity update has caught an issue I don't see since I already have a resolution set from when I played it before.

Have a look in the config file and see what resolution is set? Found here:
/home/username/.config/unity3d/SuperSmashingGreatGames/Foreveracers/prefs

Might be that it's set to zero (an issue I've seen a few times).

Let me know and I can feed it back to the developer.

Yes its set to zero. I set it to 1 and tried, but no luck. After my attempt it was set to 0 again like this:
<unity_prefs version_major="1" version_minor="1">
<pref name="FIRST_RUN" type="int">0</pref>
<pref name="LAST_CAR_TYPE" type="string">RlJUZXN0Q2Fy</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Fullscreen mode" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Height" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Use Native" type="int">0</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Width" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="UnitySelectMonitor" type="int">0</pref>
<pref name="unity.cloud_userid" type="string">ZmM4MTk1M2I0MDEyZDQzNDliYzk4NDI0MmE2NWU3YmE=</pref>
<pref name="unity.player_sessionid" type="string">NTQxNDEyMzk0NDk4MTkzNTMyNw==</pref>
</unity_prefs>

It looks like the game is working in general, but I see no graphics. Just light blue screen on start ( with music ) and you can hear that you toggle through the options. If you select something the color changes.

Here's mine for example:
Quote<pref name="Screenmanager Fullscreen mode" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Height" type="int">1080</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Use Native" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Width" type="int">1920</pref>
Also, you can set Steam launch options for the game, something like:
Quote-screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920
titi Dec 22, 2018
OK looks like these three lines must be edited manually:
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Height" type="int">1080</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Use Native" type="int">1</pref>
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Width" type="int">1920</pref>

I tried it on my laptop too and there I had the same issues. Thats 18.04 with ryzen 2500U.
If you are in contact with the developer better tell him ... :D

Thanks for your help

Okay, I've sent them a message to let them know.

Did it work with the launch option?
Quote-screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920

Yes this works too.
I removed my settings and tried it. Without Startoptions it does not launch. With -screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920 it does!

Great, I've added a note in the article.

Our apologies, but thanks for your patience and dedication finding a work-around.
