The building sim Transport Fever from developer Urban Games and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment has a fresh update out and a teaser of a new game.
The update adds in some features the community has asked including trains driving backwards instead of them magically flipping around. There's also a new Dutch translation, improved track construction tools, improved vehicle replacement, an improved camera tool and plenty more features have been tweaked on top of a healthy dose of bug fixes.

As for the teaser for the new game, they said "As already announced, we have the pleasure to unveil a great new project in 2019. The official announcement date of the new project - which is in the same genre as Transport Fever - will be published on this website."
Will be interesting to find out what it is. We've asked if it will support Linux and will update when we know.

It might be time to revisit. I spent 100 hours in Train Fever but only 33 in Transport Fever, despite the latter being obviously better.I have 94/5 hours in those two and consider to get some hours into transport fever, but I want to know what kind of game they are making first. Transport fever is basically an improved train fever, so if their new game is the next generation of the same, then I'll wait for that instead.

How is Transport Fever? I can't believe I missed that. That looks right up my alley. That kind of game lives and dies on its UI. Is it a solid title?UI and performance are the most argued points. This game is highly satisfying especially due to some excellent community mods that usually make it into a dlc eventually. Transport Fever is however what Train Fever should have been in the first place and many players were really unhappy with this "overpriced dlc". If you liked Train Fever you'll like this one as well.

Laying tracks is clunky. There's no planner, you can't plan a full connection and then click build, but you build (and spend money!) segment after segment. Also, tracks are fully rendered when you lay them, which causes poor performance.
Performance-wise, when the game recalculates income etc., it can slow down terribly on big maps.
Whatever, watching a busy large station is hypnotising :)
