Oh goodie, more sales of awesome Linux games for you and another free game for you to be able to claim.

The Humble Store Winter Sale is officially live and it will run until January 24th. For the next ~48 hours you can grab a free copy of 'A Story About My Uncle' here.

Keys for the free game need to be redeemed by January 17th, 2019 so if you do grab it don't hang around and redeem it as soon as you can.

Here's a few top Linux gaming deals currently on offer, games I particularly enjoyed:

There's plenty of other deals on, some especially nice deals for those of you making good use of Steam Play. I'm especially happy about the free game, since I didn't own it so that's a big win for me.

See all their Linux games on sale with this handy link. See all games regardless of platform on sale here.

As always, you can check our dedicated Sales Page for all this and more any day.

Already played A Story About My Uncle, it's a really fun but short game. Has very nice platforming and some beautiful visuals, recommended!

For you Proton warriors out there I can recommend Dark Souls II: SotFS and Dark Souls III at 75% off.

Edit: Praise the sale!

As much as I like a good sale.... Isn't this a bit overkill?

The Steam Sale just ended a week ago, so did GOG's Winter Sale, AND Humble... What's left to buy that wasn't on sale a week ago? Also, who has money in the budget left for more?

I very much concur :)

Slightly OT:
How far did you got with DS3? I have now 60 hours into the game and reached Central Irithyll with all bosses before that taken down, though with a lot of guidance from youtube walkthrough. Actually I'm about to give up since it is such a hard game (although never unfair and really really well made).

Well, the free game is free so *shrugs*

The thing is, everyone is different. This one is after the festive period and possibly after people got paid again, the timing here might suit a lot of people more than the dates on other sales.

As always, what's bad for one is good for another. For some people, the addition of helping a charity in a small way is also a factor, you can argue they could donate directly (valid point) but it's an additional thing on top of getting something you want.

On top of that again, for Humble Monthly subs they get additional money off and so on.

Hm, I caved in and bought Everspace. Is the type of game I'll probably never play, but I appreciate what developers did to support us.

Life is Strange 2 has already the tux icon :)

Got 165 hours according to Steam. Completed the game three times (NG+3) with my main character and did quite a lot of multiplayer as well. Levelled up my character a bit too much (lv181) which I regret because it affects multiplayer matchmaking. People who make pvp characters and such tend to aim for lv120.

I think the first time I completed it was around the 60h mark, but as you get to know the game it can be done much faster. Also I'm hunting Steam achievements. Only missing five now (sorceries, miracles, rings, expressions and The Dark Soul) :D

Just made a new character earlier this evening to try to complete the game without levelling up a single time. Got to Cathedral of the Deep but had to take a break as it got quite frustrating running around on the roof of the cathedral and getting ganged up on. Wasn't too much of a challenge up until then though, surprisingly. I know some people have completed the game at level 1 so I thought it might be an interesting challenge to spice things up a bit :)

And now I realise it sounds like I'm bragging. Sorry about that, I'll stop right away :P

If it gets too frustrating, make sure your weapon is upgraded as much as possible as it makes a huge difference. Maybe pop an ember and summon some sunbros to help out, although be aware that bosses are buffed when you call in phantoms. Manage the stamina bar and don't get greedy. Maybe try and change up your strategy, like rolling instead of blocking. Blocking costs a lot of stamina and rolling gives you a few invincibility frames so if it's timed right you don't take any damage even if it looks like you are getting hit.

I thought it was interesting that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is already shown with a Linux compatibility icon. I'm guessing that this doesn't mean the port is actually available yet, just that they know it will be.

I think that speaks to how fantastic Feral are. No fake news bullshit there. <3

Yep. It's always annoying when one of these giveaways turns out to be something you already have, but it's definitely worth picking up.

I'm not really complaining. After all, a sale is still a sale.

And yes, the free game is news and is important.
'
But, it is true that pretty much everything here was on sale a week ago... And even though those holiday sales were not announced in advance (although the steam sale always seems to leak online) people expected them and budgeted for them. If people had spare money to spend, likely it was done in the previous sale.

Well, guys, I decided not to buy too many games in the last sale and for some I decided to buy them later. Maybe I'll get another 1-2 games. Maybe some others did the same thing...

A Story About My Uncle is a nice little game. Getting it for free is definitely a steal.

Wow, I'm unworthy, these are serious stats. ;) I'm at lvl 74 with some attack power (528), but it gets difficult with very fast or more than one enemy.

Yeah, looking into co-op would be an alternative. Until now I've kept to single player with the exception of one or two invasions of others into my game.

Sounds about right for Irithyll. In your defence I'll say that the difficulty of the game is pretty much at it's peak in this area so if you can get through this then you will have no problems completing the game.

Facing Pontiff Sulyvahn at level 1 as we speak :)
Pretty insane when even the common mobs in Irithyll kills me in one hit :D

At lvl 1? Did you start with a new character and went till this guy without leveling up?!?

I'm happy that I reached the second bonfire in Irith. with my (now at) lvl77 character, took me only 2 hours (with some soul farming in-between) :)

Yup :)
Died to him four times now so I'm gonna take a break and give it another shot tomorrow.
And by level 1 I actually mean level 8 because that's the starting level so you can't actually be level 1 in this game.
No co-op partners around to rely on either because matchmaking won't allow to call in sunbros that are at a significantly higher level. I guess there aren't many level 1 sunbros around :)
