Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

By -

It's nearly the end of January already, feels like the year is going rather quickly! With all the releases we've had lately along with some excellent games last year, what are you clicking on this weekend?

I'm rather sick from a nasty bug going around my Son's school so I shall mostly be moaning, groaning and playing something like Slay the Spire since it's ridiculously good and requires very little actual effort. Bonus points to it for working very nicely on my notebook so I can do it in bed.

I might also be catching up on some more Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, since I've been having a lot of fun with it and the turn-based nature of it means I can take my time. I'm still in a little shock at just how atmospheric and stylish it is, they did a good job.

If you're stuck and looking for something new, Steam has two interesting sales going on right now. Their Aussie Sale 2019 runs until Monday and their Global Game Jam Sale is also on until tomorrow!

There's also the GOG Weekly Sale, there's a few days left on the Humble Double Fine Presents Bundle and the Caffeine bundle both with great games.

What are you playing and what do you think about it?

Quoting: FredOThe Witcher 3 (Proton) - after 73 hours of gameplay I finally reached the end of the main storyline. The hype about this game is validated...

Quoting: amataiThe Witcher 3, I'm destroying my overwhelmingly Linux Only play times, but this game worth it

Feel free to share your experiences in this thread.

Weren't categories added to Steam for organizing games? Besides, you'll have to memorize where's that one game you want to play. Also, if you have friends on Steam, they have to add all your accounts. If you are offline, they wouldn't know where to send a message. I'm not even saying about planning co-op gaming.

I'm playing Real Life this weekend. One kids hockey Saturday, other kids birthday party Sunday.

I might try and sneak some Helium Rain in somewhere though.

Quoting: sergioandvarDoki Doki Literature Club! I think it's a great visual novel and not very long. It plays great on Proton, just click n' play!
Why use Proton for a game that has a "native" Linux version packaged along with the Windows download (assuming you got it from itch.io)? It's written in Python, so it's actually platform agnostic, and you can easily launch it using the "ddlc.sh" file in the game's folder.

I'm currently playing Hero-U. I got it while it was on sale on GoG at some point, and although I must say that I'm torn. I like the story and the characters, but the fixed schedule on most of the game days feels a bit like, well, going to school. Also, I guess I'm about 15 years older than the game's target audience. Physical age, that is. I still refuse my mental age to progress beyond 10.

Sure, I discovered what you say about a native Linux version today. The thing is I installed the Steam Version and Linux is not listed so I didn't know about it.

I haven't had any luck with the only whitelisted title I have: Beep. It shows an error window and I'm lazy to try to fix it. I just hope that Steam improves Proton even more so We don't have these kind of issues.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning using Proton. Works great, even on my low end machine (although I do have the resolution set down to 1280 by 720).

Categories are useful when you have a few games, but when you have hundreds, like in my original Steam account, is impossible to find a game.. I don't even remember what games I have there.

With the new order method I adopted, is super easy to find a game:

I know that if I want to play a big game with spanish voice overs (Tomb Raider 2013, for example), it will be available only here.

If I want to play a big game without Spanish voice overs but with spanish subtitles (The Witcher 3, for example), it will be present only here.

And if I want to play an indie game (Life is Strange, for example), it will be only here.

All the games will be counted as linux purchases, even if they are windows games.

About online games... I am a lone wolf.

I still don't understand how it's more convenient than managing only one account. I have many games on Steam and use categories to divide my game library into groups by genre. BTW, Life is Strange is not an indie game, so you probably must remove it from your "indie" account and re-buy again for another one. And what if a game gets Spanish voice-over after you have bought it?
