AT SUNDOWN: Shots in the Dark from developer Mild Beast Games and publisher Versus Evil puts an interesting spin on the top-down shooter genre where light is your enemy.

Note: Key provided by the publisher.

The key point about At Sundown, is that everyone is invisible. That is, until you shoot, sprint or step in the light, which helps everyone pinpoint your location. Due to this, it's a pretty frantic and often a little confusing. The concept is solid, not original at all (Screencheat, Invisigun Heroes) but it works exactly as you would expect it to.

For those who enjoy the feeling of progression, you will be happy with this one too. As you play it, you will level up and unlock more weapons, maps, game modes and so on. So it does at least have something to keep you going.

It supports local multiplayer, it has bots if you're alone and you can play online. I'm glad it has bots, as it's enabled me to try it properly since the online play is basically dead with an all-time peak of only 19 players and it's only been available on Steam for one week.

To get you going, it has a training mode to teach you basic movements and allow you to hone your skills with the various weapons. Each training mission has a basic and a more advanced variant, which were actually quite good. Depending on your time taken in each training mission, you're awarded a medal. Considering the challenges facing any smaller game to build an online community, it's a shame they didn't expand the training mode into a bigger single-player challenge experience as that would have gone down quite well I think.

It's a pretty fun shooter overall, it performs well and the idea (while not original) works great. If you regularly have friends around or play games with others online often, this is a pretty good choice.

You can find it on Steam.

Having bought a couple of PS4 dualshock4 controllers for my sons, I'm looking for more games which offer local co-op / local multiplayer. This might fit the bill nicely.

I like the umbrella. Points for style there.
