The Mean Greens - Plastic Warfare, a third-person shooter where you take on the role of a toy soldier is once again supported on Linux.

It arrived on Linux way back in 2016 but sadly the Linux version was left out of date for a little while, plus the SteamOS icon to show off Linux support was removed. I spoke to the developer about it, where they admitted having "dropped the ball on that" not informing Linux gamers what was happening. Not long after I mentioned all this, new builds were made for Linux and a day ago the SteamOS icon returned!

A good time too, the game is on sale at a ridiculously cheap price with 90% off until February 1st. It seems to have had a resurgence in players, as well as much more frequent updates recently too so it's very much alive again.

After trying it out again today after the latest update, I will admit that I had quite a lot of fun with it. Despite a couple bits of stutter when using a different weapon for the first time the performance was really quite good.

It's good to see another Unreal Engine game that actually works quite well on Linux. the maps are incredibly varied too and sometimes a little ridiculous, like fighting in a bathtub for example.

Find it on Steam.

It's an amazing game!!! It's too bad it doesn't get more updates. It would really benefit from an SDK for the community to make maps. One of the few 3rd person shooters I actually want to play.

Quoting: GuestI have a different problem. My game looks like this:

I played with every conceivable graphic setting and it was all the same.

I really don't want to return it, as it was only $0.99, and seems like a fun game. But it seems like a silly issue to have.

My PC:

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
GPU: AMD Radeon Vega RX 56 (using MESA 18.32-0)
OS: Manjaro (XFCE) on Kernel 4.19.16-1
RAM: 32GB DDR4 RAM
Storage: 1tb SSD

Plays and looks fine for me on Antergos, Mesa 18.2.3

KDE
1700x

Didn;t even know this had a Linux version.
Think 2016 was the year I switched over and I was still looking at PCI passthrough while playing the Eschalon books.

Quoting: GuestSounds like the Story of Human: Fall Flat they also silently dropped Linux support. The Steam Forum Thread is still active and the Linux Community shows their frustration.

Maybe Liam could reach out for them as well and hopefully they will change their minds too :D

The reason they removed the Linux icon for a while was because they updated the game and were fixing issues with the Windows build first before they uploaded an updated Linux build and they didn't want Linux users buying the game during that period and not be able to play the game (as they wouldn't be able to connect due to using an older version of the game).

That's the reason they claimed anyway.

Actually they said:

Although Linux will no longer receive updates, this doesn’t mean you can no longer play Human: Fall Flat. The game will still run fully on your Linux systems and can be re-installed at any time.

Which means, yes you can still install the old Linux build but also they claimed that it will NOT get any updates.
Which sounds not like they just want to fix things first.
How ever they also said they still try to help if there is any stuff going on with the old build.
But further on the older version is not compatible with the newer once, of course, but this also means you have the option to install an old build and only play with other Linux people or just hope Proton works (currently it dose)

And all updates I'm aware of are just a few skins and I think one or two new maps.
But nothing which would not work with the Linux build because skins are available and also there seems no new game play features in the newer maps.

This sounds pretty much like a discontinued Linux port. =/
Well, at least this is the reason why I think so.

But this is after all a different story for a different topic ^_^

I was referring to The Mean Greens. The reason they removed the Linux icon for a while.
