It seems there's a game sale for every possible event in the world now, not that I am complaining as it's good for our wallets.

The current sale over on GOG is their 'Lantern Festival' to celebrate the Year of the Pig. So you too can pig-out out on some of the great deals going.

This time, there's not a huge selection for Linux gamers, so I've picked out a few of the best deals.

For use with open source game engines:

Pop on over to GOG to see more.

For those who use Wine and other such tools, there's probably plenty more for you to take a look at. One of our readers, adamhm, maintains a list of Wine wrappers they've done for GOG releases you can find here—handy!

I'll probably pick up a couple. I wish GOG would say how long their sales are going to run. :(

I have never seen GOG not saying how long their sale goes on. And if it goes for their latest sale, this is what they say:
"The Lantern Festival Sale lasts for one week until February 25th, 11 PM UTC."
Its a last sentence of the sale description from here:

OK. How did you get to that page? I don't see how to get to a news page. When I click on the sale image on the main page, it brings me to a list of games that are on sale.

When you are on main gog.com page, go to the very bottom and there is a section "News". Find out the news about Lantern Festival Sale and go there, thats the page with all the Sale details ( the one I linked )

Yeah it's a bit poor they basically bury their news section.

Since GOG isn't really doing much for Linux users and there lack of galaxy, I've been avoiding buying games from them, mostly sticking to itch and steam. Even games that do have linux ports exist on steam only. Some small dev's even complain that gog makes it difficult for linux ports. Sorry for the negativity towards them, I do prefer DRM free but I also require that the programs will execute on linux. Am I being to harsh towards GOG?
